Kirk can be a legit MLB 4th OF. It looks like he came to spring ready to play and that's carried over to his start in AAA. He's always been a capable defensive OF, so he doesn't really need to hit that much to be worthy of an MLB roster spot.
They have one the lowest BA in the Majors, hit the fewest homer runs, struck out at historical pace, have given up the most home runs, their starting pitching has been average at best, the relievers have has one 20 inning scoreless streak, but have stunk other than that. Wright Murphy & Granderson have given them nothing, nada, zilch. One of 2 things, they will go into the toilet or they will win 86 games or so
Think of the gate...the TV $...the ego of of the Wilpons. We are worried about bringing ready talent to New York???
Tell me someone is not ready..OK...tell me we want control of a player for another year in NY especially given pitchers who throw their arms out?
I go to games where empty seats (no income)are the norm....whAT ABOUT FILLING EMPTY SEATS TODAY???

Granderson feels he can pinch hit- not going to DL. Also, wearing these and will auction later for Jackie Robinson F http://www.whosay.com/l/Wmq8c0B
Is he a guy who will always strike out too much and not hit for a high enough average? Or does her have a chance to be a decent 1B, which would mean somewhere around an 800-850 OPS
Especially if Granderson is out. Duda could just play RF. If you want to get something for Ike, you need to play him when you get a chance like this. Jeesh. Isn't this his hometown too? He also always hits great in this ballpark.
and get a real reliever in there. Before Torres is worn out. Has Vic Black got it together yet?
Not a Mets fan but I have to give props to Lannan. We had little league day at anaheim stadium on Sunday, he was the only player who acknowledged the kids. In fact, he high fived every fricken kid until the parade of kids passed. There were a good 500 kids there on Sunday. I'm a big Lannan fan now.
be thrilled right now. We are down our ace. We are down our closer. Our 9th inning and 8th inning guys were signed off the street in spring training. Our hitting has been abysmal. Like not kidding worst batting average in baseball bad. We have the hardest april schedule any team has endured in years. Our new ace, Colon, just gave us his worst start in 5 years. We are sitting at .500.
We should all be doing cartwheels.
If we make it through April at .500 or better, we should have a ticker tape parade.
We can trash the team all we want but there HAVE been some major positives. The bullpen aside from the first couple days has been incredible, especially German, Familia, and Torres. Farrsworth and Valverde have been good if not shocking. How the hell is farnsworth throwing 95 now?? Lannan and Rice have been bad but the rest haven't.
The rotation has been teetering around and I don't think anyone has really shown their best stuff yet and they have been pretty damn good overall. We have a solid 1-5 thats likely going to get better and better as the year goes on.
The most important hitter to get off to a fast start was Lagares and he has looked like an all-star early. Rcent hot streaks by Murphy, EYJ, and Duda have made the lineup slightly better and Darnaud seems to be making much better contact as well. We still need a lot of improvement but there have been positives.
A parade. Considering the circumstances, what happened to Harvey, what happened to Parnell, how our big hitter free agent hasn't done shit, how our 2nd big hitter free agent hasn't played, our heart of the order sucking early, EYJ leading off, our complete lack of hitting, 2 street free agents bums everyone hated to pitch the 8th and 9th, bad luck, and strength of schedule a parade.
They should build statues of every player on the 25 man roster around citified and this month of April should live in infamy.
Thankfully it's not a structural issue or anything like that but this blister stuff can be annoying and can linger a while.
Looking forward to hearing da pope today.. Arroyo is his boy. Absolutely in love with him. Maybe now he'll stop giving the Mets shit for not signing him.
Can we just stop having important players get hurt every time we win a fucking game, though? This team can't afford it.
I was watching Mejia last night and comparing to Wheeler's outing from the night before. It seems like Mejia's "stuff" is much harder to square up than Wheeler's and he misses more bats. I think Wheeler's ultimate success is going to depend on commanding his curveball.
The other intersting point though, was one Hernandez made a couple of times about the effort Mejia puts into his delivery and the strain it appears he puts on his shoulder. I watched that closely after Keith mentioned it, and it sure seemed he was right. Mejia really looks like he has a max effort delivery as compared to Wheeler's who is just as smooth as you could possibly ask for.
I won't pretend to know what that means in terms of long term health, but I guess you could project Mejia "breaking" in a much shorter timeframe of innings than Wheeler might. Probably why the bullpen issue keeps rearing it's head with Mejia.
the other game where the pen faltered was the 14-3 blowout, but they lose that game regardless
the game Familia lost was the only other blemish in the last 10
they have also bunched hits and scored more runs than their meager BA would suggest

Farnsworth has also been good.
How many more years of being like my Islanders????
Terry Collins said Curtis Granderson is at the doctor now and is just as stiff as last night.
Is there a joke in there somewhere?
Terry Collins says #Mets committed to Lucas Duda at 1B regardless of outfield situation.
You will want to watch pre-game just to see My interview with Lucas Duda. I promise it's worth it! 830p on @SNYtv

Curtis Granderson says he will avoid DL. Won't start today, but will take at least light batting practice.

Arroyo happened. He was awful.
A 25$ hot dog. And Keith going gaga for the woman eating it.
Seems like a perfect opportunity to save the bullpen.
hope it's not injury related.

Mejia has the worst luck injury wise of even anyone on the Mets.
