The 1st RD of the draft could turn into a wild ride.

scott in albany : 4/15/2014 4:50 pm
None of the top 10 picks are set. That's rare. All the draft sites and experts picks are all over the place. There could be a bunch of trades.

One of the reasons i think their could be a bunch of trades is because of the QB's. They are not getting a lot of hype. There is a lot of talk they are slipping a little in the draft.

If you look at the top 5 teams in the draft 4 of them have a need at QB. Anyone of them could be willing to trade down, pick up some extra picks and still be able to draft a QB they like. The rams already stated i believe they are willing to talk trade. So the top five teams are all possible trading partners.

Things could get crazy.

draft always has potential to be crazy and usually follows through. But this one seems to have that much more potential to go crazy. usually there is a consensus #1 QB even if there isn't a consensus on where he will go. The fact that any of the top 3 or 4 could go ahead of each other is wild. So many question marks and each pick has a trickle down affect.

I already can't wait.
I agree - this is crazy!

Clowney is the consensus top pick but do the Texans need another defensive player? They need a QB but IMHO there is no top 10 QB talent in this draft.

If I were picking tomorrow, I'd take Aaron Donald but like you said, this is going to be wild and I can't help but think that a Sammy Watkins or Khalil Mack could fall to #12.
Agree

If a QB isn't taken in the first 3 picks, then the Giants might consider trading up.

I am thinking the same thing. I still don't buy the QBs falling, as I think a lot of scouts and GMs out there are blowing smoke to devalue some to these QBs. Can these teams that are picking high and of need of a QB afford to wait until the 2nd round? They would be forced to trade back into the 1st. Its a chance they are taking, and it may not turn out in their favor to waiting.
We need Houston to take a QB and get that ball rolling, a run on QB's

If the QB's slide to 12 teams will probably wait to trade up for a qb and the Giants won't get any good offers at 12. More likely they trade with Dallas.
There is almost a month to go

I don't see any scenario
BigBlueShock : 4/15/2014 5:21 pm : link
that has Watkins or Mack falling to 12. Wishful thinking, but just not happening. Even if 6 QB's were taken, those two guys would still be off the board by twelve, IMO.

I agree about all the QB smoke. However, teams may remember the Lockers, Gabberts & Ponders of the world being WAY overdrafted & are a little gun shy possibly.
As I said before, I'd love to be Snead right now.
It is hard to believe

that teams like Houston, Cleveland, Oakland and Jacksonville have really not solid starting QBs to work with and are passing on these QB prospects. The only team that can really afford to weight is Cleveland with their 26th pick. The Vikings are another team also.

Have the potential to be crazy, this season could be crazy, but it may just surprise you and turn into a snooze fest. Usually there is a player everyone thinks is very good that drops way lower then anyone could have predicted. Usually there are trades that turn the order players are picked into even more of a crapshoot, and then there are players that sneak into the top of the draft that nobody thought could be picked that high. Seldom does it go like we all script it, that is what makes the process fun actually, if it were always so predictable, it would be a total bore.

Can't disagree with that. It is a tough decision.

If you think Derek Carr is his brother, Johnny Manziel's game doesn't translate to the NFL, and Bridgewater is a game manager at best, then, yes, you'd probably pass, especially if Bortles is off the board.
I
AcidTest : 4/15/2014 5:51 pm : link
think Bortles is probably going to be the only QB taken in the top ten. Carr has a chance, but a lot of teams will pass with the idea that they can get McCarron, Savage, Mettenberger, or Garrapalo (sp) in the second round. If that happens, I certainly hope the Giants do not trade up.
I still think a few QBs will go in the top 10
Jimmy Googs : 4/15/2014 5:57 pm : link
simply because several of those teams still have to find their guy.

But I do agree with the OP that with so much up in the air that this Round 1 could go a bit crazy.

Would love Watkins to drop in our laps but who the hell knows...

no consensus on which QB is the best....also adds to the variables.
