There are too many good shows on tv now. It's ridiculous how many shows I pass on... Simply too many. This one i can't ignore...the movie was so good and with all the people involved here this series looks to be awesome.

A nod to the movie which did the same.

Exceeded my expectations, it definitely captures the tone of the movie without coming off like a cheap imitation or reboot. Completely independent with a very Coen vibe. They read the script and gave them their blessing, which tells you all you need to know about the quality of the show. According to some critics, it gets better as it goes too. Should be good.

I saw the movie and I know the show is based on the movie.

I got a little bored half way through, but it did get my attention again. I like it a lot.

Thought it was well done. I'm hooked.

As soon as it started to lull everything went nuts. I like Martin Freeman's character and Billy Bob reminds me of his character from Bad Santa, like he got his shit straight and, logically, moved on to killing people.

But the Coen brothers said much of what was depicted in the film was based on multiple real life murders/events, (i.e. the wood chipper scene was based on a real life husband in Connecticut who tried to dispose of his wife's body by first putting her through a wood chipper, etc.)

Not sure about the show, tho.

Pretty rare these days to be hooked on a show after the first episode. Didn't happen with True Detective, and didn't happen with Game of Thrones.

Billy Bob Thornton's bad haircut, what else could you possibly want in a series? There are more memorable scenes in the pilot than in most of the stuff I've watched

I did get a laugh out of BBT encouraging that kid to piss in his boss' gas tank and then ratting him out for it.

this article yesterday that said the show is not based on a true story, despite saying it is. Kinda interesting too in terms of how the show came together.
