He's pitched decently so far in Vegas, too. He's fine as a stopgap. It's not like we don't have anyone better, they're just not going to call those guys up yet.
Archie Bradley's ML debut and we know how well the Mets do against rookie pitcher's. George Springer called up by the Astro's and he is going to be studly IMO.
Of course, there is at least modest uncertainty about the health of Bartolo Colon (back spasms) and Jenrry Mejia (blister), so Matsuzaka could slip into a starting role if needed.
my guess is the Astros have made progress on an extension with Springer thus not concerned about super two. If the Mets were proactive and signed guys like Montero/Thor upon callup as some teams have done then it wouldn't be an issue.
Lannan, a starting pitcher throughout his career, had a 15.75 ERA in five relief appearances this season. He did toss two scoreless innings to earn the win in extra innings against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday. Then he proceeded to allow three runs in an inning Sunday while working back-to-back days for the first time in his career.
Lannan said he had not yet learned from the Mets whether they plan to use him as a starter or reliever if he decided to report to the Triple-A club.
he's not happy and he recently called Arizona out for holding him back. Towers insisted it has more to do with the losing culture right now and Bradley struggling in his last 2 starts in ST. We all know that bullshit and it's all about the money, but it will be interesting to see if Towers gives in and calls him up.
defense of the Mets/teams... the rules are what they are. Why wouldn't teams try and do this and 1. control a player for an extra year 2. control a players price an extra year? If you believe Syndergaard/Bradley are going to be big time players that is significant coin.

Dan, that's all fine, except for the other side of the coin. The players. The day will come when it's time to sit down and talk extension, and the players/agents may take offense to this. Most don't, but there is still that risk, and Bradley and his agent are making it clear that they aren't happy about it.
How's Mejia's finger/blister doing?

They'll get rid of him soon. They just don't want to start Montero's clock yet, but he'll by up by summer.

Dillon Gee perfect thru 4 IP. #Mets 2, #Dbacks 0, end 4
It is just nice to actually be able to say big games coming up for the Mets. That alone says volumes.
Snake bit. pun intended?
can Farnsworth close? Valverde is shaky!
Switch him with Farnsworth
