Interesting Wastington Post piece from last week with statistics that show that left turns, as opposed to right turns, are a staggeringly significant cause of accidents.
There aren't many variables with a right hand turn, but there are a bunch with a left hand turn. Many Americans don't do too well processing variables.
If we drove on the left like the Brits, it would solve this problem. Except all the accidents would migrate over to the right hand turns.
Seriously - I can think of many situations where there is no way to get where you are going without left hand turns. So the data is interesting but the proposal is impractical. People should just be more vigilant with left hand turns.
scare the shit out of me ever since I took a ride with a drunken London taxi cab driver. The cab was full and I was sitting in front in some compact car, driving too fast, careening around those roundabouts so fast that the car felt like we were on two wheels.
FWIW, I've been in two real accidents in my life, both times my car was hit when someone tried to go left and get through oncoming traffic. One was drunk, so I don't think the left turn was the main influence there, the other was a yellow light we both went through.

my only major accident was while making a right turn
than the speeders. What I mean by that is the left hand turn accidents come more from the same people that drive slowly and are more dangerous on the roads.
RE: Next they are going to tell us that it's hotter
