what are the odds of a 3rd or 4th rdc starting for the team

aquidneck : 4/17/2014 8:31 am
that drafted them at any point? Ever?

I'm guessing about 1 in 3, 1 in 4.

2010 4th round - ( New Window )
im guessing it depends

on what a rdc is
I would guess
old man : 4/17/2014 10:38 am : link
pretty close to 8% chance for the 3rd, 4% for the 4th.

But I would ask Seattle how they turned mid-late rounders into starters, and champions.

This is one of the deepest drafts in recent memory.

I believe it is possible to get day 1 starters (2 impact starting players) in round 1 and 2 and get 2 more starters by seasons end in rounder’s 3 and 4

Of course it does depend on the position you target later (OL and WR are very deep and there is quality throughout at TE as well)in the draft, your team needs, and of course the player actually getting an opportunity (Something TC rarely gives rookies)but yes it is possible to get 3 or 4 starters.
Aquidneck - If you mean "winning a starting job" then

the odds are low like Old Man suggests above I would think.

If you mean just starting a game b/c the normal starter got injured then the odds would obviously be significantly higher.

Anyway, what are you driving at?
when you look at 'round vs starts'

you have probably many more variables than a typical fan would account for. expectations, investment in, scheme, team, and so forth in addition to what they looked like coming out of college.

the idea is to plan for, look for, work for - so called 'starters' with all your picks.

what are you going to try to do, draft excellent 'bench players?' wtf would that accomplish?

15.4% 3rd & 10.1% 4th rounders start as rookies in the NFL since 1994. 41.1% 32.3% start at least 2 seasons. 21.5% & 14.8% start at least 5 seasons.

The third and fourth rounds comprise a huge span.

You're talking about everything from the 65th pick (chart value ~265 points) to the 140th pick (chart value ~ 36 points). To express their relative trade value as a Miller analogy: #140 is to #65 as #65 is to #4, or possibly #3.

Lumping the third and fourth rounds together makes no sense.
With the shit we've got now

you could probably draft a 6th rounder who could start at TE
