NFT: Some Calvin and Hobbes for your morning

J Dot : 4/17/2014 10:07 am
I was already in a good mood today with no work tomorrow and a mid-60's weekend on the horizon. Then I came just across my favorite comic strip from when I was growing up. Made my morning even better. Hope it does the same for a few of you.

Thanks for posting.

gave my old C & H comic books to my 9 yr old son and he loves them. Greatest comic strip ever.
Love C&H

My 10 year old is also just discovering, and loves the characters

My all time favorite though is The Far Side. Gary Larsen was a genius
I've kept all my books too

a fabulous comic strip. Also like Shoe a lot. Have a signed book by Jeff MacNelly. Great stuff.
With all the dumbass comic strips

that have run for eons, that are not funny, and are not even interesting, Calvin had to get the creator that wanted to stop doing them. I love the guy for creating the strip, but get mad that he can't just put a few out now and then too.
agreed, Chris

Watterson is a genius - a great artist and the voice of a poet.

My kids loved my Calvin and Hobbes, Bloom County, and Far Side books.
one of my favorites...

did the poster for a new documentary on comic strips called "Stripped". He even says a few lines in it. That's like getting JD Salinger to write the foreword for a novel...
another old favorite

it was ONE of my favorites

Brings back great memories. I have every collection, will have to break them out. So much to learn from these comic strips, love em.
Bloom County was great
LauderdaleMatty : 4/17/2014 10:52 am : link
cur Calvin's outlook on life and sheer lunacy were a joy. A must read. Waterson ending it was a tragedy for me.
a Far Side Fav

Along with Bloom County and the Far Side, my favorites.

Of the C&H, I used to love the approval ratings.
Great stuff

keeps borrowing C&H books from the school library. She reads them constantly and pretty much knows everyone. She's also a little bit like Calvin...
The Argyle Sweater is a good single panel comic.

Hobbes is Tyler Durden.

In both cases, the entity that began as the ideal companion soon took on a more realistic, 3-dimensional quality. In other words, they became REAL. This is evident in that both Hobbes and Tyler also began to function as scapegoats for their creators. For instance, consider that Calvin often blames broken lamps and other assorted household mischief on Hobbes, and that Jack is inclined to believe that Fight Club and other various anti-society mischief is brought about by Tyler, not himself. Calvin claims Hobbes pounces on him every day after school, Jack believes Tyler beats him up next to 40 kilotons of nitroglycerin in a parking garage -- the list goes on and on. The relationships between the two sets of friends are the exact same. And is this mere coincidence? I think not.

Well thought out and hilarious - ( New Window )

books when I left college. Last year from Christmas, my wife got me the entire boxed collection. Pretty awesome and meant a lot to me. I love the relationship between Calvin, Susie dirkins & hobbes. Just genius.
