Hmmm ... Gilbride (on @SiriusXMNFL) on Eli Manning’s injury: “He has bounced back from minor procedures in the past that nobody knew about.”

Pretty interesting, if true. Secret squirrels.

This of course in the face of Eli's ankle procedure and debate over whether he is declining.
Eli has the pox

This does not surprise me.

I am sure after he retires stories will come out about him playing Hurt or had in season procedures.Maybe a lot of his critics will eat crow then.

I think he's talking about botox injections.

No big deal.
Can't say I'm too surprised.
Dave in Hoboken : 4/17/2014 2:12 pm : link
Especially with some of the OLine we've trotted out there in recent years.
He may be talking about

that 3 day recovery from the separated shoulder that was suppposed to keep Eli out 3-6weeks-seasonending.

My impression as well. Wish we knew of those stories better.

Eli makes no excuses, which is one of the reasons' he'll be far more appreciated after he retires than while he's playing. If he was like Favre, letting the whole world know he was hurt, he would be on a mighty high pedestal now.

You can't buy the graciousness and class of an Eli Manning. No wonder those guys in the locker room are so behind him.

I think this year, with the new offense, even with a questionable supporting cast, Eli is going to shine in ways that people didn't think he was capable of. The arrow is pointing up, way up.

I just pray for his health.
I've suspected
Bill in UT : 4/17/2014 2:16 pm : link
he's had his nose and eyes done. Don't the bags seem to be missing?
Off the top of my head,
an_idol_mind : 4/17/2014 2:23 pm : link
I seem to recall some rumors on BBI of him getting treatment for the elbow injury he suffered in the 2005 preseason long after he was supposedly healed.

In 2008, he reportedly got injured against the Browns but the media never ran with it because he didn't miss any practice time.

He had a foot injury in 2009 and played through it, although he did struggle for a stretch.

There were also some people speculating that he took an injury in the 2012 San Fran game as well.

Eli's streak of consecutive starts is pretty darned impressive. Since he's been here, the guy has played through more injuries than anybody gives him credit for and he's never made a peep about it.
Glbride sure gets around these days...

Can you hit up your sources and figure it out?
some people
dorgan : 4/17/2014 2:29 pm : link
never get tired of playing dress up.
Gillbride can be talking about any injury from any year
SGMen : 4/17/2014 2:30 pm : link
No team gives out info like this because other teams would attack the injury I'm sure!
As tough as they come
Randy in CT : 4/17/2014 2:31 pm : link
and doesn't play the martyr complex like so many out there when he's toughing through an injury.

Piss and moan all you want you unappreciative corksmoking fans, but you will look back on Eli as the best Giants QB in history and then you may perhaps then realize what you had.
....

and he is still recovering from Brett's hug curse.

Turn to voodoo Eli

Let it be clear that the 49er injury was actually "suggested" previously by posters with actual connections and it's just being piggybacked here to make it look like he has actual info.
I think Riggies is just jealous of junc's connections.

Doesn't the league rules require teams to report injuries?
steve in ky : 4/17/2014 2:48 pm : link
How does he bounce back from something no one knew about without the Giants cheating a little? Unless he is talking about thing done during the off seasons.
Steve,
BrettNYG10 : 4/17/2014 2:50 pm : link
I think they only have to report if if it causes them to miss practice - and I assume this was done in the off-season.
i also suspect
area junc : 4/17/2014 2:51 pm : link
he got a concussion on a hit by rob jackson of the redskins
Brett
steve in ky : 4/17/2014 2:53 pm : link
I did qualify that it may have been the off season he was referring to.

This is news?
Eli's toughness is not in question.
BlueLou : 4/17/2014 3:34 pm : link
From 1 game alone, you gotta know he's as resilient as any player in the entire league.

From the shoulder injury Mortensen reported that was supposed to keep him out several games, to the bad foot he played on for what?, most of a season?

I am as critical of E as most anyone here at times, but toughness?

None better.

As for KG, stfu already dude. Get a hobby outside of football, please!
why are people upset KG is saying this?

I don't get it

The Morons
PaulN : 4/17/2014 4:21 pm : link
And you should now know who they are, hate Gillbride and blamed him for everything. Now he is showing some real class and character and sticking up for his QB, instead of trying to take credit for anything, so now they hate him more for showing them what fucking idiots they have been all along. The guy won 2 Superbowls with us and they still never liked him, just come on a game thread and listen to the morons talk. They don't really like Coughlin either, they just know they will get jumped on with him, but they were hoping he was going to get fired this off season. But they now are all great fans of the new offensive coordinator, and when anything goes wrong they will be telling us how Coughlin is too stubborn to put in his offense, and that will be the reason it fails if it does.
I'll take Gilbride standing up for Eli
mfsd : 4/17/2014 4:28 pm : link
over many of the whiners here any day of the week
Its just so odd that people who spend all day discussing the Giants
Blue Baller : 4/17/2014 4:30 pm : link
get so upset when other people discuss the Giants

Coughlin's gag rule must have really bothered Gilbride
RD : 4/17/2014 5:19 pm : link
Because he can't stop talking now.
I think Gilbride will wind up coming back to the NFL
BrettNYG10 : 4/17/2014 5:20 pm : link

Was a guest on sirius. Should he have mimed his answers?

If there were any procedures (meaning surgical)
BlackLight : 4/17/2014 5:28 pm : link
They probably weren't in-season. Other than him hurting his shoulder at the start of 2007, I don't recall him even missing a practice.

agreement with.
unfortunately has not bounced back from the
mdc1 : 4/17/2014 7:14 pm : link
most important item. Interceptions. Seems to throw quite a few injured or not. Needs to stop if we expect to win.

Let's see it this season.
Yes,
tomjgiant : 4/17/2014 8:53 pm : link
hopefully he can recover from a broken offensive line.
Eli's been amazingly
bluepepper : 4/17/2014 9:49 pm : link
durable, but assuming what Gilbride says is true, I wonder if the Giants don't have some concerns about his health going forward. Maybe he won't be like Peyton or Brady and play into his late thirties.
Didn't Eli hurt
mrvax : 4/17/2014 9:57 pm : link
his shoulder a few years ago playing Dallas in the opener?

Somehow I remember shoulder injury/Dallas. Maybe he had a minor surgery then???

That was in 2007. He played through it and did alright. :)
