Alright, let's fire this fucking thing up. It all starts here. We're going in relatively healthy with only Kreider out. Mac Truck is ready, Brass is good to go. Time for MSL to step the fuck up and do what he's always done in the playoffs.
We must protect home ice and ideally, we need to get out of this series in less than 7 games because if we're going to make a run, we can't keep getting stuck in long series' like we did 2 years ago.
Trim or shave the beard one last time and keep the bad vibes the fuck out of here. Let's fucking go.

Yeah. Johnson was on his horse. The puck was a split second away from crossing the line
And Sather is salivating
I mean if he asks for something insane, I agree completely. I do think they should sign him if he wants just a little more than his current crazy contract. Again, our goalie is great and not playing forever.
Check this out:
Both Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek, the most potent tandem on the Flyers’ top line, finished without a shot the entire night.
Niiiice
Of course, I know, it's just one playoff game, and I would never bet that the Rangers will win the cup.
But until tonight, I never even entertained the thought of the Rangers winning the cup. To me, this year was all about building to the future. I still think that is true. But right now, I would say it is possible--albeit not likely--that the Rangers can hoist Lord Stanley.
Funny, that's what Vegas thinks to.
Anyway, the only reason any of us have generally been in favor of the MSL trade... or even the Nash trade... is that this team, if healthy and if Hank can get hot... can beat anyone in this league. This team isnt built to contend in 2018 anyway.
Fuck it. All In.
Starting to look like we wont see too many upsets in first round, albeit Game 1's can often be misleading - but its the way the favored teams (ANA, SJ, NYR, MTL, PITT) controlled the play, or in Pittsburgh's case, just looked a lot more experienced and poised....
I thought MIN had a shot to take down COL, but last night's loss will be difficult to bounce back from and bottom line, Bryz Universe is terrible... to pull the upset, Minnesota would need Harding or at least Backstrom in the pipes.
I still think we'll see Pittsburgh vs Anaheim Finals... with the upset of the tournament being Montreal over Boston... but who the fuck knows, I certainly hope to be pleasantly surprised... and LGFR!
I missed half the first and half the second while in transit, but it looked like our boys really controlled the play...some beautiful crisp passing, and Philly never got any kind of physical upper hand
Keep it fuckin rollin, you hosers!
I think they get past Dallas but I have a feeling they won't get past SJS or LAK (I think SJ wins that series). Even if they somehow did, I think the winner of StL/CHI is probably going to get to the Conf. Finals and I'm not sure ANA would beat either of them.
Wouldn't mind seeing the Finnish Flash hoist the cup one more time, though. Great career, great dude.
Havent followed ANA too closely late in the year when they were coasting -- did Hiller fall off a cliff?
Some interesting stats from last night, in addition to the shocking lack of shots from any of Giroux, Voracek or Couterier:
--LeCavalier logged only 7+ minutes of ice time. He averaged double that in the regular season. Is he hurt?
--Timmomen, probably their best Defender, logged only 15 minutes ice time... he averages closer to 23 minutes... i wonder if he's hurt
They'll need both those guys in this series if they're going to knock us off
Well done.
Anyway.. like I said, we're gonna need a good fuckin' team effort here to get through this gauntlet. No one is going to be able to streak us through the whole thing so everyone's gotta step the fuck up and contribute some wins. Hopefully I can get us one more at home on Sunday and put us in good position to take this fuckin thing.
He played well last night. Looks like he's getting comfortable with Steps centering and Nasher at LW. I expect him to continue to have an impact because he's done this for a long time and he's been an excellent player in the playoffs through most of his career .
Those two guys play like they did last night and the goals will come
There was a lot of talk about how the flyers were going to pound us into submission and intimidate us. Fuck that noise. I'd say the fact that we held the puck at will and set up shop in their zone the entire fucking game is pretty damn intimidating to a group of slow-footed goons.
They can't skate with us. Play our game and we will throttle these guys.

Thanks for the comments.
The point is this team does have a legit shot here under AV. This team is playing an exciting brand of hockey and the system is helping the players to florish. The non existant power play under Torts has been totally transformed. We actually score skillful looking goals instead of muck and grining ones.
This team looks real good and we finally have enough scoring to complement the D and Goaltending to make a run at this.

Couldn't agree more. The Rangers are the better team 5-on-5 and everybody with a brain already knows it. The only way the Flyers can win this series is to lure the Rangers into retaliatory penalties and dumb mistakes, and there's absolutely no reason to get involved in any of that nonsense.
The meatheads who think the Rangers need to get into post-whistle scraps to prove their toughness don't know what they're talking about. If the Flyers want to goon it up, let them, it means they're losing.
It would be nice to have a little more size.. and we'll get some help there if we advance and Kreider returns.. but all this talk about the "smurfs" and how we're some finesse, pussy team.. it's just overblown. The Rangers are a little on the small side but there's plenty of toughness. These guys don't back down or get intimidated. If they stick to their game, they'll outclass the Flyers like they did last night and end this series in 5 or 6.
AV is rolling 4 productive lines right now and we're actually pretty deep as long as we stay healthy. That 4th line isn't just taking up time, they're actually generating chances. Torts ran a lot of double shifts because he didn't have as much balance along the bottom 6 and I think it wore guys out too fast.
The Rangers are a team right now that is excellent at killing penalties (and not taking too many to begin), they have a solid PP, they have a defensive pairing that can take just about any player out of a game (they've done it to Ovi, they did it to Giroux, etc). As long as we keep defending like that and we cash in on our chances and put some pucks in, we will be a very tough out.
Just stay fucking healthy is all I ask. We are owed that after the shitstorm of injuries we always seem to have around this time of year.
I agree - we need to win this one in 4 or 5, IMO. We can't get worn down by a team we're better than in the first round.
Game 2
We've lost 6 straight game 2s... havent won since Game 2 in 2009 against the Caps when we almost stunned the Caps (led 3-1, then their talent just took over the final 3 games). Had a 1-0 lead in the series three times two years ago with game 2 at home... all three times, they equalized.
That can't happen again
Rangers - 6 straight game 2 losses
Philly - 9 straight losses at MSG
Immovable object vs Unstoppable force
Can't wait for sunday
Lucic is still a fuck, somehow in the 2nd period got away with the nice upper cut with his stick between the legs
link - ( New Window )
But I expect with two days off Philly will have made some good adjustments. They're well coached.
Cant wait for tomorrow.
I'll wait a few more minutes before creating one.
