Alright, let's fire this fucking thing up. It all starts here. We're going in relatively healthy with only Kreider out. Mac Truck is ready, Brass is good to go. Time for MSL to step the fuck up and do what he's always done in the playoffs.
We must protect home ice and ideally, we need to get out of this series in less than 7 games because if we're going to make a run, we can't keep getting stuck in long series' like we did 2 years ago.
Trim or shave the beard one last time and keep the bad vibes the fuck out of here. Let's fucking go.

There will be a lot of pacing and muttering to myself.
It's the Goddamn Flyers... the stakes (elation vs depression) are so high with this one... its not like getting ousted by the Broons, Sabres or even the Caps.
I dont even hate the Devils as much as I hate this particular Goddamn team and fan base.
Oh, and fuck Philly. Their biggest sports heroes are a fake boxer and some bartender that covered kickoffs for a few years
Let's fuckin go Rangers!!
Few things in life are better than NHL playoffs, an ice cold beer and a lot of fuckin meat. (That's right, Fish)
For the record, I ate chicken parm for lunch. Had to do it one last time for gameday. Not sure what I will eat going forward, but im willing to do whatever it takes against these fucks
It's also a question of laziness. I might just finish dropping the kids off at the pool, shower up, and start drinking.
drop the motherfucking puck

Nah. You'll probably try to get me banned like that poor bastard Filthy.
You bet your fuckin beard I do.

Incredibly amped.

Not very heavy is like saying that Kevin Stevens kind of liked to party. Kid's a fucking rail but if he can play like a Tory Krug, Rafalski-type of player that he's been compared to....
Fuckin right, Jints!
Let's do this shit.
Cause the beard is reppin' BBI on Sunday
I am on a bus that has been stuck in traffic for an hour, delaying my first beer. I am ready to drop the gloves.
Drop. The Fucking. Puck.

It was a fabulous time - and the most intense rivalry in all of sports imo
Mook, you pick on Boyle while Nash/MSL don't do shit?
baadbill : 7:28 pm : link : reply
.
...Nash had 2 of the 5 Ranger shots on goal?
Now, it's my understanding from you guys that Nash is supposed to be one of the best in the NHL and MSL even better ... both on same line - they should be DOMINATING, no?
Well, it would be nice if they fucking started!
Ok. I'll try to be more clear moving forward. By putting the puck on net, I mean they need to dominate the way you would expect two of the supposed best players in the league playing on the same line should.
LOL ... well it starts there I'd think ... guess I talk hockey different than you ... like I said, I'll try to be more precise and not use colloquialisms
ummm ... no, that just isn't true ... Nash threw that at the net ... from the blue line ... nobody in the zone yet so there was nobody between him and the goalie ... all it did was allow the goalie to easily glove it and stop the play ... so, no, it really wasn't better than no SOG ... (although I don't think it was actually on net so probably not a SOG)
They must've seen something on film that shows emery vacating a bit earlyand nNash is trying to catch him.
Yes. They should shoot less. Genius.
Quote:
So, I don't think the answer is to shoot more.
Yes. They should shoot less. Genius.
The obvious answer is take better shots. Duh
That line is having their way with the Flyers so far ... so is is the Ranger's 4th line ... I am so fucking pumped

Your basis for argument was that the Rangers were second in shots during the regular season. You mentioned nothing regarding tactical changes to set up better shots.
Get a better argument.
That was my initial reaction ... and I hope so ... would really be nice to get one before the 2nd ends
And seriously wtf do we have do to get a penalty? Nash gets tripped right in front of an official and nothing.
Two more minutes
Now get another one.
That didn't take long
Now get another!
Fuck Philly.
Two totally different things.
3-1!
YES!
or what Rodney said
Fuck Phillllllly
1. Richards'
2. Hags
3. Hank
Tough, gutsy performance by this team. Keep it rolling!
It didn't help them that MAF was a sieve.
I only disagree in degree ... I hate the scumbag organization ... the "team" is a one year thing ... I hate them every year forever because of who they are ... scumbags
Seriously. They make it so easy to hate them. They are absolute scum.
well done Rangers!

4 goal type night. Let's fuckin do this.
One of the most important things the Rangers did tonight was score on the PP ... what did they end up with, 3PP goals?
I look forward to hearing more bitching about how MSL can't score.

I have a feeling we're going to skullfuck Emery..

Great call arc. Bravo.
Great Fuckin 3rd period tonight... Fuck, after the opening jitters we fuckin took it to that team. Enjoy this.
But come out swingin' Sunday fuckers... I don't think we've won a game 2 in 5 years!!
Last yr - lost at Caps, at Bruins
Two yrs ago - lost vs Ott, lost vs Wash, lost vs NJ
Three yrs ago - lost at Caps
Four yrs ago - missed playoffs
Five yrs ago... I don't know, that's a long fuckin' time ago
Fuck these unskilled, alley-brawling scum...put it out of their grimy reach come Sunday

Because if you don't get sucked into the bullshit, they can't do anything about it. That's what people keep ignoring when they talk about how the Flyers are going to just beat us into submission physically. The biggest mistake the Pens did 2 years ago was get sucked into the shit and that's how the inferior Flyers team beat them.
We are too quick and a better team than they are.. they can't match our game and if we don't get sucked into theirs, this series isn't going to last too long. The Rangers are a very disciplined team.
Had to ruin an exciting thread by bringing baseball up...
Great job, arc. I never doubted you for a second.
I've been watching the Rangers for over 50 years ... and this crowd was fucking pathetic until the 3rd period ...

You're right about how the Rangers need to react ... but I really don't think that's why we didn't see the rough stuff ... maybe this is a different Flyers than the teams of years past, but they were really pathetic from a physical standpoint ... I just hope the Rangers keep the domination
In general crowd noise is really fuckin overrated anyway in this sport. Execute your plays, beat your man... that's what wins hockey games... not if a crowd can sing a song the loudest.
Peel a section, bitches...

With all due respect, that's just not true. Much more than football, a hockey team can definitely feed off the crowd when it gets rocking ... there's literally a rhythm to the crowd noise at a game ... and the "Lets Go Rangers" chant is over 50 years old ... and it isn't "sung". So, it tells me that you are less than 50 years old and have not been to Ranger hockey games in person in the 70s and 80s to witness it yourself. I have. Well over 100 games at the Garden. And the crowd doesn't "sing"
Bury this fucking team in game 2
Mason being out for the Flyers is a huge loss because Emery isn't nearly as good

I'd love for their starting goalie to miss Game 2 as well, but Marty Brodeur wasn't stopping those goals tonight... every one of them was point blank range. If we play the way we did tonight the rest of this series, we'll win this easily, I don't care who's in their net.
They'll come out flying in game 2.
Rangers played a solid defensive game, but still a few shaky decisions behind their own blue line that can be cleaned up.
Really nice start though. Build on it.
Yup. Obviously we'd rather face the backup, but this wasn't on Emery at all. We earned our goals big time.
Rangers were the more physical team tonight. they dominated posession, but all of them finished check when they didn't have the puck. It was glorious. the anti smurf days.
I almost felt bad for the Flyers having to go all dirtbag towards the end..

you weren't at the game right? The crowd seemed damn fine to me - and we dominated the final 2.5 periods of that game.... So whatever the crowd was doing... keep it going.

Wait. So you weren't at the game?
You're preaching like you were there. Bitching and moaning like you paid for seats and you're legitimately upset by the crowd.
The crowd sounded on point the whole game except for the 5 minutes after Philly scored. Which is to be expected.
Berube ties a hell of a Windsor knot though. That shit looked like a Fuckin clip on.
It's amazing how much faster the Rangers are than Philly even without Kreider.
Duncan Keith is awesome.
Brutal penalty on St. Louis, obviously the correct call but man that sucks for them for that to happen in OT
This thread is awesome. Perfect roller coaster of hate and love.
That 4 minute pp was amazing. Thought I was hallucinating.
And lost my phone at the Garden. Still awesome.

I think baadbill stole it with his mind to post on bbi about the crowd underperforming during a game he only attended in spirit.

Ive been to many many games this year and I can say with 100% accuracy that the crowd at times this season has been atrocious but tonight was just fine and erupted with authority when necessary.
Either way, that was really fun to watch them convert opportunities and get production from essential players. Just keep it up and play with more fire at all times. We could be a tough match up for any team when we play our best.
If we play like that every night, we're going to be a force to reckon with
That's New York fucking Hockey
24 seconds
17 seconds
6 seconds
Yeah. Johnson was on his horse. The puck was a split second away from crossing the line
And Sather is salivating
I mean if he asks for something insane, I agree completely. I do think they should sign him if he wants just a little more than his current crazy contract. Again, our goalie is great and not playing forever.
Check this out:
Both Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek, the most potent tandem on the Flyers’ top line, finished without a shot the entire night.
Niiiice
Of course, I know, it's just one playoff game, and I would never bet that the Rangers will win the cup.
But until tonight, I never even entertained the thought of the Rangers winning the cup. To me, this year was all about building to the future. I still think that is true. But right now, I would say it is possible--albeit not likely--that the Rangers can hoist Lord Stanley.
Funny, that's what Vegas thinks to.
Anyway, the only reason any of us have generally been in favor of the MSL trade... or even the Nash trade... is that this team, if healthy and if Hank can get hot... can beat anyone in this league. This team isnt built to contend in 2018 anyway.
Fuck it. All In.
Starting to look like we wont see too many upsets in first round, albeit Game 1's can often be misleading - but its the way the favored teams (ANA, SJ, NYR, MTL, PITT) controlled the play, or in Pittsburgh's case, just looked a lot more experienced and poised....
I thought MIN had a shot to take down COL, but last night's loss will be difficult to bounce back from and bottom line, Bryz Universe is terrible... to pull the upset, Minnesota would need Harding or at least Backstrom in the pipes.
I still think we'll see Pittsburgh vs Anaheim Finals... with the upset of the tournament being Montreal over Boston... but who the fuck knows, I certainly hope to be pleasantly surprised... and LGFR!
I missed half the first and half the second while in transit, but it looked like our boys really controlled the play...some beautiful crisp passing, and Philly never got any kind of physical upper hand
Keep it fuckin rollin, you hosers!
I think they get past Dallas but I have a feeling they won't get past SJS or LAK (I think SJ wins that series). Even if they somehow did, I think the winner of StL/CHI is probably going to get to the Conf. Finals and I'm not sure ANA would beat either of them.
Wouldn't mind seeing the Finnish Flash hoist the cup one more time, though. Great career, great dude.
Havent followed ANA too closely late in the year when they were coasting -- did Hiller fall off a cliff?
Some interesting stats from last night, in addition to the shocking lack of shots from any of Giroux, Voracek or Couterier:
--LeCavalier logged only 7+ minutes of ice time. He averaged double that in the regular season. Is he hurt?
--Timmomen, probably their best Defender, logged only 15 minutes ice time... he averages closer to 23 minutes... i wonder if he's hurt
They'll need both those guys in this series if they're going to knock us off
Well done.
Anyway.. like I said, we're gonna need a good fuckin' team effort here to get through this gauntlet. No one is going to be able to streak us through the whole thing so everyone's gotta step the fuck up and contribute some wins. Hopefully I can get us one more at home on Sunday and put us in good position to take this fuckin thing.
He played well last night. Looks like he's getting comfortable with Steps centering and Nasher at LW. I expect him to continue to have an impact because he's done this for a long time and he's been an excellent player in the playoffs through most of his career .
Those two guys play like they did last night and the goals will come
There was a lot of talk about how the flyers were going to pound us into submission and intimidate us. Fuck that noise. I'd say the fact that we held the puck at will and set up shop in their zone the entire fucking game is pretty damn intimidating to a group of slow-footed goons.
They can't skate with us. Play our game and we will throttle these guys.

Thanks for the comments.
The point is this team does have a legit shot here under AV. This team is playing an exciting brand of hockey and the system is helping the players to florish. The non existant power play under Torts has been totally transformed. We actually score skillful looking goals instead of muck and grining ones.
This team looks real good and we finally have enough scoring to complement the D and Goaltending to make a run at this.

Couldn't agree more. The Rangers are the better team 5-on-5 and everybody with a brain already knows it. The only way the Flyers can win this series is to lure the Rangers into retaliatory penalties and dumb mistakes, and there's absolutely no reason to get involved in any of that nonsense.
The meatheads who think the Rangers need to get into post-whistle scraps to prove their toughness don't know what they're talking about. If the Flyers want to goon it up, let them, it means they're losing.
It would be nice to have a little more size.. and we'll get some help there if we advance and Kreider returns.. but all this talk about the "smurfs" and how we're some finesse, pussy team.. it's just overblown. The Rangers are a little on the small side but there's plenty of toughness. These guys don't back down or get intimidated. If they stick to their game, they'll outclass the Flyers like they did last night and end this series in 5 or 6.
AV is rolling 4 productive lines right now and we're actually pretty deep as long as we stay healthy. That 4th line isn't just taking up time, they're actually generating chances. Torts ran a lot of double shifts because he didn't have as much balance along the bottom 6 and I think it wore guys out too fast.
The Rangers are a team right now that is excellent at killing penalties (and not taking too many to begin), they have a solid PP, they have a defensive pairing that can take just about any player out of a game (they've done it to Ovi, they did it to Giroux, etc). As long as we keep defending like that and we cash in on our chances and put some pucks in, we will be a very tough out.
Just stay fucking healthy is all I ask. We are owed that after the shitstorm of injuries we always seem to have around this time of year.
I agree - we need to win this one in 4 or 5, IMO. We can't get worn down by a team we're better than in the first round.
Game 2
We've lost 6 straight game 2s... havent won since Game 2 in 2009 against the Caps when we almost stunned the Caps (led 3-1, then their talent just took over the final 3 games). Had a 1-0 lead in the series three times two years ago with game 2 at home... all three times, they equalized.
That can't happen again
Rangers - 6 straight game 2 losses
Philly - 9 straight losses at MSG
Immovable object vs Unstoppable force
Can't wait for sunday
Lucic is still a fuck, somehow in the 2nd period got away with the nice upper cut with his stick between the legs
link - ( New Window )
But I expect with two days off Philly will have made some good adjustments. They're well coached.
Cant wait for tomorrow.
I'll wait a few more minutes before creating one.
