We must protect home ice and ideally, we need to get out of this series in less than 7 games because if we're going to make a run, we can't keep getting stuck in long series' like we did 2 years ago.

Ok. I'll try to be more clear moving forward. By putting the puck on net, I mean they need to dominate the way you would expect two of the supposed best players in the league playing on the same line should.

ummm ... no, that just isn't true ... Nash threw that at the net ... from the blue line ... nobody in the zone yet so there was nobody between him and the goalie ... all it did was allow the goalie to easily glove it and stop the play ... so, no, it really wasn't better than no SOG ... (although I don't think it was actually on net so probably not a SOG)

Your basis for argument was that the Rangers were second in shots during the regular season. You mentioned nothing regarding tactical changes to set up better shots.
