if you were GM, and you had to say how you would spend the first four draft pick to best improve this team, what positions would you target, in no particular order.
Player would be selected based on the BPA within the targeted positions in each round.
Mine are:
WR - would love an explosive skill player to add to our unit
OL - continue shoring up the OL
OL - ditto
TE - getting a TE who can make a difference, we can develop, and keep
OL
OL
LB or TE
BPA
BPA
BPA
BPA
BPA
BPA
hahaha.
OL
WR
DL
OL
Though, if DL is thin, swap #2 and 3.
Really is a good question, especially with so many needs.
1. WR
2-7 OL
I know that sounds crazy - and probably is - but fix the OL and have #1 WR pick, Cruz, Randle, Manningham plus a decent running game - and the Giants are off to the races
But it only happens with the WR and with real competition and depth along the OL
2.) WR
3.) C
4.) RB/DT
2 - TE (Troy Niklas)
3 - WR (Davante Adams, Jordan Matthews, or Allen Robinson)
4 - OL (Travis Swanson)
Look for starters in the first three rounds, look for quality subs and future starters in rounds 4 and 5, and pray for help after that.
Interior OL
TE
OL
OL in 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 or 1 and 3.
a WR in 1-3
a TE in 1-4
DE in 2-3
OL
TE
BPA - DL, OL, RB
But I'd stick to my board and not reach for those positions.
QB.
QB.
QB.
Having said that …
Wide Receiver, Offensive Guard, Defensive Tackle, Tight End ….
I personally think that this draft is the deepest in a long time (at the expense of not too many future ALL PROs at the top). That's why I'd seriously consider a trade-down to pick up 2 or 3 very solid players instead of a boom-or-bust guy at #12.
2.WR
3.TE
4.OL
2- DE
3 - DE
4 - Backup quarterback or a pass rushing defensive end.
You're welcome,
Jerry Reese
If Donald not available, OL, TE, WR, DT..
