mattlawson : 4/17/2014 8:16 pm
ANY recommendations for a good comedy thats new would be appreciated
Probably everyone has seen it, but Bridesmaids is hilarious
Bold Ruler : Mod : 4/17/2014 8:28 pm : link
I also thought Paul was pretty funny.
bridesmaids was one of the worst movies I have ever seen
robbieballs2003 : 4/17/2014 8:31 pm : link
It is just like 2:30 hours or women whining.
Liked bridesmaids
mattlawson : 4/17/2014 8:34 pm : link
Seen it
Past few years didn't yield many good comedies
jcn56 : 4/17/2014 8:34 pm : link
Off the top of my head, 21 Jump Street was funny at times. Seven Psychopaths was a good dark comedy.
We are the Millers was alright. It had its moments.
robbieballs2003 : 4/17/2014 8:37 pm : link
This is the End was funny. It slowly went downhill but was still hilarious. Michael Cera stole the show in the beginning.

21 Jump Street was awesome.

The Heat/Identity Thief were pretty decent.

This is 40 was brutal. That movie felt like 40 hours long.

I also think that That's My Boy was great too. Not great in terms of a great movie but I was laughing my ass off the whole time.
I thought Moonrise Kingdom was a really good movie
robbieballs2003 : 4/17/2014 8:40 pm : link
but you have to like that style of film.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a comedy but if you grew up in the 80s or 90s then Wreck It Ralph is a must see. I love that movie.

Ted was overrated. I wasn't a big fan although it had its moments.
This is the end
viggie : 4/17/2014 8:42 pm : link
not high brow at all, but i laughed the whole time.
The Internship wasn't really that good.
robbieballs2003 : 4/17/2014 8:42 pm : link
Ride Along was ok.

I think I covered most of the known comedies over the last two years.
How far back are you going?
pjcas18 : 4/17/2014 8:43 pm : link
I think it was longer ago than I remember, but Role Models was good.

I think that was more than a few years ago.
Matt, I think you would be amused by

Guy's Big Bite, lol. If you're looking for TV sitcoms, I've come to understand from previous threads that my taste in not in sync with a lot of others, but my favorite comedy show is Tim Allen's Last Man Standing.
Iliza Shlesinger

I think she is kind of funny.. I don't really don't pay attention to what she is sayig for obvious reasons..

I thought The Change Up, with Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Mann....
Crispino : 4/17/2014 9:08 pm : link
and Jason Bateman had some really funny stuff in it.
Going back a little further
robbieballs2003 : 4/17/2014 9:09 pm : link
Hot Tub Time Machine was funny too. Lougle.
Is Tropic Thunder
TheBigBlueOne : 4/17/2014 9:32 pm : link

Forgetting Sarah Marshal
Pete in MD : 4/17/2014 10:21 pm : link
is hilarious. I loved Funny People with Adam Sandler not everyone did. I agree about 21 Jump Street.
I'm watching The Other Guys right now
robbieballs2003 : 4/17/2014 10:21 pm : link
I love this movie. The first time I saw it I wasn't crazy about it but it gets better every time.
The other guys is brilliant

Love when The two bad ass cops jump off the building and go splat. "You thinking what I'm thinking--- aim for the bushes"

A pretty bad sever am years for comedies lately. One I would recommend that hasn't been mentioned here is Extract, which I laughed at quite a bit.
my favorite over the past 10 years

Pineapple Express.
... Nailed it.

I'd second 21 Jump Street and This is the End as well. The Change Up also had its moments, Bateman delivers.
Of all the movies mentioned
Upstate_Giants_fan : 4/18/2014 8:51 pm : link
We're the Millers was the only one I'd agree with as being pretty funny. Pretty sparse period.
I thought Ted was hilarious
Milton : 4/19/2014 3:54 am : link
The last twenty minutes are kind of lame, but up until then it was pretty damn funny.
funny recent films
Dylan fan : 4/19/2014 8:20 am : link
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil & In the Loop were hysterically funny. Haven't seen any of the films mentioned but will check out a few eventually. Actually, I don't think I've seen any other comedies since those 2, & they came out 4 & 5 years ago.
Sarah Marshall will go down as a classic.
drkenneth : 4/19/2014 8:33 am : link
It's fantastic.
My favorite of the Apatow films is Knocked Up
Bill L : 4/19/2014 9:15 am : link
21 jump street is hilarious
21 Jump Street.. end thread
GMAN4LIFE : 4/19/2014 9:49 am : link
The movie is a classic...
