The autographs are not free. According to Fans Authentic's Scott Gershenbaum, Young's signature with an inscription will run at $59 for the public. Link - ( New Window )
Fan and have a nice item like a jersey or helmet to get signed then probably. If you were to get his autograph at an airport or hotel he has an ugly signature. I'm sure paying him the 60 bucks he will give you his nicer signature and also inscribe something. Their is a pretty big market for college autographs and he is one of the best college players ever.
I personally wouldn't pay 10 bucks for his autograph, because if I really wanted it I know how to get it for free. Some people don't know you can get these guys autographs for free so they don't have a problem spending the money.
pay that much for anybody's autograph, but Vince Young really was an awesome college football player.
Sure he didn't cut it in the NFL, but his college career was brilliant and he was absolutely enormous in bringing a national championship to a massive program that hadn't won a title in a very long time. He's a Texas hero and deservedly so.
which might make him the best college player I've seen by default since QBs are so important.
Those 2 Rose Bowl wins he had were nothing short of epic. It wasn't just a one man show because those Longhorns defenses were great, especially the secondary. But he put that team on his back in those games in a way you rarely see happen in football.
If I were a Longhorns fan I'd definitely be a big fan of Vince Young. Would I pay $60 for an autograph? I don't know about that since I've never been some autograph seeker, but I don't think $60 sounds too crazy.
I have never liked Vince Young, but the guy is not the #1 draft bust. He had a record of 31-19 in the NFL. His career was short, but that record isn't a bust.
An all time bust would be someone like Ryan Leaf who everyone had as 1b to Peyton Manning's 1a (and in some cases reversed).
Jamarcus Russell is an all time bust as well, though IIRC a lot of teams had him rated a late 1st - early 2nd rounder at best and only Al Davis thought he was #1 overall worthy.
