9) Reese McGuire, C, Grade B: Superior defensive catcher and hit very well in rookie ball (.330/.388/.392). Controls strike zone well, power is questionable. Glove will get him to the majors, bat will determine if hes a star, a decent regular, or a defense-oriented platoon/backup type. I tend towards optimism.
Most mets are allergic to hitting HRs in this park. If they signed Granderson because of his power based off his #s in Yankee Stadium, then they learned absolutely nothing with the Jason Bay atrocity.

"Thornton is going to give us more depth, and has pitched very well at the minor-league level," Alderson said. "He's not on the [40-man] roster so it gives us some flexibility there, but we're happy to add that depth. And with respect to the player to be named later, we're happy as well."
