Would anybody take Teddy Bridgewater at no. 12?

bigblueheadache : 4/19/2014 3:54 pm
Eli is the Giants quarterback. Understood. But this kid was ranked as the no. 1 or 2 player in the draft going into the season and even during the season. His stock only fell since the end of the season because of concerns about the size of his hands. But this kid lit it up at Louisville. He showed poise, intelligence, a quick release, and deadly accuracy. He messed up his pro day. His hands are small and he may have a problem adjusting to the pro ball. He wasn't wearing his gloves and that may or may not be a legitimate excuse for his poor performance. Still, I'd rather judge him on his game tape than one bad workout.

So, is there anybody who would take him at 12 just because if he's as good as he looked in college, he could be a great player at the most important position on the field and our current QB is going to be 33 and coming off his worst season as a pro.
I'm sure they would....

But not the Giants
no
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/19/2014 3:57 pm : link
would be an idiotic pick. Especially after the Nassib selection.
Small Hands......

3rd time this question has been asked on BBI

Bridgewater is dropping like a rock. Why the hell would you take him at 12? Especially when we have a ton of needs and a great QB.
I like Bridgewater a lot. I think he's the best of the qb's.

He's dissed because of a bad pro day, but his college production was superior - only 4 picks against a 71% completion percentage, almost 4,000 yards and 31 td's. Manziel had Evans to throw to, while Bortles played against weaker competition. Bridgewater will make some team very happy - but not the Giants.
Eli will be the Giants QB at at the age of 40!

Eli is tough and loves the game and like a Timex watch keeps on ticking and ticking.....
If Bridgewater was available at #12 (and he will be) and someone
SGMen : 4/19/2014 4:30 pm : link
wanted to trade up say four, five or six spots for him and give us a #3 and #6 I would take that deal and hope OL Martin was available when our pick came.

I really want Donaldson at #12 due to his pass rush potential but we have so many holes that more picks could help.
I don't think Bridgewater makes it past the Vikings.....

Why does this keep getting asked? Not happening.
The way Bridgwater is dropping

He will probably be available @43...and I would still pass....the Giants currently are set at the QB position...
The Jags had him in for a workout

Maybe he's climbing back again. I'll answer my own question: yes, I would take him if I had a strong conviction that his Pro Day was a fluke. Just because Peyton is playing well into his late 30's doesn't mean Eli will. Could be that this year's horrible play was all because of the o-line, or maybe his skills are starting to erode. I don't think the Giants will be good enough to win a title in the next year or two anyway, and by the time they are good enough, he'll be an old man in football years and probably past his prime. I say if Bridgewater is going to be a great QB, take him and let the chips fall where they may. If Eli bombs again, we'll be glad we took his replacement this year. As for Nassib, he's not the answer so far as I know. All that being said, I agree that Bridgewater will probably be gone by the 12th pick.
If Eli bombs
YAJ2112 : 4/19/2014 4:53 pm : link
then we'll be able to take a much better QB next year.
We've now got an experienced #2 in Freeman
PatersonPlank : 4/19/2014 4:57 pm : link
and a developmental QB in Nassib. Taking Bridgewater makes no sense. In all honesty, I think I'd prefer Nassib anyway.
Freeman was awful last year
bigblueheadache : 4/19/2014 5:06 pm : link
But I certainly respect the consensus view that Eli is an established QB and proven winner and with a better line and a TE, he could be a winner again. But Teddy Bridgewater turns out to be great for the next 10-15 years and not the next 2-3 years, it make you think.
Doesn't make much sense- the pro ball is smaller

than the college ball unless they changed something.

If Robinson or Mathews are there at 8, I would consider the Vikings a trading partner at that point, you think they want Bridgewater.
Somebody

that wants to trade with us to get him, maybe; not us.
No
BillyBoy8384 : 4/19/2014 8:16 pm : link
Trade back with a team who wants him maybe. But outright waste our 1st Rd pick when QB is the last of our concerns would be beyond stupid. Never happen. We have Nassib and Freeman. Why draft Bridgewater? We need a WR, TE, OL, sign Kevin Williams

They should have the guy train with the Hoss.
If bridgewater is there at 12. Giants will take him

Teddy Bridgewater will be a great NFL QB
There is no doubt that the right team
bignygfan : 4/19/2014 10:36 pm : link
would take Teddy Ballgame at No. 12 if they have that pick.
Minnesota
Paulie Walnuts : 4/20/2014 12:04 am : link
will take him
No way we take him
Some Fan : 4/20/2014 9:59 am : link
He is more likely to go in the second round than the Giants taking him.
YES!
Reale01 : 4/20/2014 1:45 pm : link
The team that we trade our pick to may take him.
He played his last game
RetroJint : 4/20/2014 10:05 pm : link
months ago. He had a bad workout that ESPN exaggerated by showing 3 mis-fires 4 times each. I think calmer heads will prevail. He is the best of the quarterbacks. Not for the Giants at 12 but for somebody mid-to-late first round. Ultimately the main body of his work product-his games- is very strong. I think he's a starter in the NFL.
NOPE
ANGPASS : 4/21/2014 9:11 am : link
if the giants were to take a qb, i'd rather it be manzel. But it isn't happening.
