Mets told John Lannan he could start or relieve at AAA -- whichever he thought was best for his career -- if he remains with organization
But for a team to be this poor at their home park for this long is mind boggling. Front Office continues to put a shitty team together with equally shitty manager, and put all their eggs in a basket of minor league pitchers.
I really cant believe what we've had to endure through.
Granderson will be a solid signing if he adjustments are made
The team needs to adjust and he's got to go back to hitting like he did in Detroit - which would make him more of a top of the order guy. He's not likely to strike out less as a cleanup hitter without any protection behind him.
Obviously this lineup is a bunch of bad options, then Wright and Granderson, and then a bunch of other bad options. But assuming they had someone else who could protect Wright, Granderson would be a lot better off batting in the 2 hole ahead of Wright.
a beach ball right now. He's in a huge slump. I doubt he stays like this much longer but I feel bad for him because fans are going to turn on him quick. Everyone has Bay fresh in their minds plus he has the whole former yankee thing going for him. Its not going to be pretty for him. He better get it together quick.
The reason they have sucked at home the last few years is because the team has simply sucked period. I don't get what the big mystery is. We've gone through a rebuild over the last few years and we are about a year away from finally seeing the rewards of it. So what if we were a little better on the road? People act like we've had a World Series team and have just choked at home. When you have a team filled with shitty players you may not do well at home. Shocker.
We can have all the pitchers in the world but if you can't hit then you will still suck.
Where do you see this offense coming from? Still hoping on our minor leaguers that never seem to pan out? Or another amazing free agent signing from Sandy...because he's shown to be real good at those moves too.
And likely a lot better than it is now by the time the year is out. There is no reason to go crazy and spend money on Drew ect this year with Harvey out. The pitching is going to be ridiculous next year. The bullpen will be sorted. We'll have options galore with the lineup. Yes, Puello and Flores are two legit prospects that could push their way on this team soon. Yes we'll have the money to sign a free agent if theres even a hole and yes we'll have plenty of chips next year to make a trade. We can't roll with a 9 man rotation next year. Something has to give and next year with all the ducks in a row will be the time to do it.
You should have to hit a baseball to get a homerun. I coach my son's 13 year old Little League team and they play on a 300' field. A 308' hit should NOT be a homerun. It's a joke.
do you let Tejada hit there! You have to be kidding me! They have Kimbrel you ideot! That was our only chance to score, Terry Collins...only the Mets would be that stupid.

I'm sorry, but this post is filled with hilarity. How is this lineup "a lot" better next year? Because Flores and Puello are legit prospects? Okay. Because you are banking on a bunch of minor league pitchers and Harvey coming off TJ surgery? And please dont tell me they will have money to spend...I mean, really? But yeah, those are some rose colored glasses.

Not sure who TC will turn to next save situation, but really cannot be Jose Valverde. Kyle Farnsworth? Gonzalez Germen? Joel Hanrahan?
No dipshit. But it will have an infusion of talent and have a couple of Montero, Degrom, Mejia, ect. They can't all start. Torres, German, and Familia have looked pretty good. Black and Walters will likely get up here at some point. Its strength in numbers. Yes you can sign a reliever or two next year as well if nobody pans out(which is highly unlikely.
I get that this team isn't going anywhere this year, and that's fine. But they need to at least fill the roster with decent players (like Granderson and Young). If Hanrahan looks like he's anywhere close to healthy they need to sign him, end of story. They cannot give Tejada another month hitting the way he is currently, nor can they let Valverde continue to have a meaningful role.
Oh well, at least this game had some positives. Duda, Wright & Murphy had some good AB's and Chris Young is looking like he might be more like the player he was in AZ. Colon had a solid bounce back game. They need to get Granderson going.

Terry Collins sounds like he's changing closers too. Said he didn't want to address topic until he addressed players though.

Day after tough start for Rafael Montero, Noah Syndergaard rough outing too: 4 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 1 HR so far. At 86 pitches.

Valverde gives up another bomb. Justin Upton crushes one to CF. Valverde has allowed 4HR last 3 outings.

Mets would drop to 2-6 at home this season with a loss. They are 6-3 on the road.
At least they fought back and made it close.

Terry Collins sounds like he will drop Curtis Granderson from the cleanup spot.

So the upshot of today's #Mets loss is likely a new cleanup hitter and a new closer.
And they should just close by committee at this point because there's no one in the pen who is going to hold it down by themselves.
