Game 7 of the Patrick Division semis. A high school buddy and I had driven down from Long Island to visit his older brother at Johns Hopkins, and we were able to catch the game on tv with the Caps local affiliate. I remember Patty L saying after the game that everyone was so gassed that no one could even raise their hands over their heads to celebrate the GWG. Hrudey, IIRC, mentioned that it felt like each of his pads felt like it weighed 50 pounds from all the sweat. Hrudey stopped 73 of 75 shots, and Bob Mason stopped 54 of 57. Even Billy Smith, who never shook hands after playoff series, stopped Mason to tell him it was the best goaltending he'd ever seen. Coincidentally, it was the only playoff Denis Potvin ever missed (back injury).
