I started watching it last summer and finished season 6 a couple months ago.

First, any idea when season 7 rolls out? I looked online and the most I could find is the scripts were in the works. Is it possible there won't be the final season until 2015?

One of the tings I like about it is it's one of those series that loves to throw you a curve, and that's why I was disappointed to have figured out Gemma was going to kill Tara a few episodes before it happened. Now, I sure didn't see the police chief getting killed in the process, so maybe it's a wash.

Great series though. Up there with Breaking Bad and Mad Men, IMO.

I love some of the cast they've added over the seaosns, like Kim Dickens (too bad there's no full frontal), Peter Weller and the guy who plays Boyd Crowder on Justified who played the traney. Dude can act.
I think it always starts

The actress that played tara

Was not coming back for season 7 so something was going to happen to her whether jail or killed
I think Sutter

decided several seasons ago, Tara would "leave" in the season 6 finale.

I scared my wife

when Tara got killed. I literally screamed for joy. Her character was destroying the show. Bad writing and irritating acting do not make for good television.

I don't agree. Her character was important as a counterpoint to a world of pain and violence and she gave Jax more depth.

Other than when he read his father's treatise you didn't known what was going on in there until you saw them together. If Sutter didn't come up with her character, though, I'm sure he would have found some other way to do that.

It's kind of like The Sopranos with how few original characters remain. So, am I wrong about season 7 being the last? I thought I read that somewhere, but I'd be happy to be wrong.

Season 7 is the

Sutter spoke on Stern

about it and said that he wanted to do a spin-off about the Original 7 or 9--whatever it was. I hope so because I think the show is pretty well done.
Sons season premiers have always coincided with

the first week of the NFL season. To be perfectly honest I'm ready for it to be over. This season just felt so bloated, and stretching out so many episodes to 90 minutes was an awful decision.
Yup...I think it's a good time for SOA to end...

It's run it's course, and they have no members left.
a great show...

But to be honest... It's time to end. Most shows that go into a season 7 are no where near as good as they once were. Rescue Me, 24, The Shield, Sopranos, ect, come to mind.
I think it got too big.

The Ireland arc was the first misstep but I thought it got back on track nicely. But the CIA/cartel storyline was ridiculous, I thought the show was better than having to resort to a classic deus ex machina. The introduction of each seasons now standard Enemy of the Club feels very formulaic too, Toric was a cartoon character. I think the show was at its best when it kept things focused on the Club and the history/mystery surrounding John Teller's death.

spot on. The Toric character got way out of hand. And no way a disgraced agent - retired or kicked out - gets a badge and gun. That was a little lame.

A prequel would be awesome.
Some of the most horrifying scenes
pjcas18 : 4/20/2014 11:46 am : link
I have ever seen on a television show were from Sons of Anarchy.

The scene where Tig watched his daughter burned alive is something I will never forget.

That said, this was never a show I overanalyzed for story arcs or character development. It was like 24 that way. The main issue I had is the club kept shrinking. I thought more members in the club the more interesting the stories could be.

They had to get out of the rut of the early days with the locals and samcro vs. the mayans and the 1-9-ers, how many story lines can you have.

I didn't mind Ireland, I thought Abel being kidnapped was kind of lame, but I understood why they did it.

I thought the cartel stuff was hokey. I could hardly figure out who was good and who was bad and it seemed there were double and triple "agents".

I don't mind the show ending at all and certainly think it's time, but no one confuses SOA with Breaking Bad.

Good points. And yeah, on second thought, I take that part back. It's not as good as Breaking Bad - that's a pretty high bar. But it' still damn good.
shows cool

but it's more like Gemma and some bikers.

way too much gemma.
My cousin is a writer on the show

Sitter might taker a breather then fire up the prequel series about the first 9
This is a really good show, but not in the class of Breaking Bad
Mike from Ohio : 4/21/2014 9:59 am : link
The show does a great job of developing characters with depth and complexity, but they seem to kill off too many characters for the sake of story to keep it running long. They have not developed any ancillary characters that you care about, so each main character killed off seems to just limit the story telling options.

I enjoy the show, but it has run its course and needs to be closed out. However, I would love to see a prequel focusing on the original 9.
