NFT: New York Rangers vs. Philadelphia Flyers, Game 2, 12pm

arcarsenal : 11:17 am
Alright, motherfuckers. This has to be the time we finally follow up a Game 1 victory with a Game 2 victory. We've prolonged too many of our recent series' by losing this fuckin' game. The fuckbag Flyers found out they can't skate with us so they tried to go full retard. That didn't work either once they realized this team isn't quite as soft as they thought and are far more disciplined.

Mason still out. Make Emery work and the goals will come.

Same lines, same 6th best goalie in the cage.

Keep rolling 4 lines, play the matchups and shut their 1st line the fuck down again.

Paul...WTF?
Kyle in NY : 3:00 pm : link
.
ugh
RodneyHamp : 3:02 pm : link
and I hate the fact that the piece of shit Simmonds got the empty netter. Lick the wounds, regroup, and take the next 3. The Rangers are the better team.
Paul
MetsAreBack : 3:02 pm : link
no this team is not worn out. But they were badly out executed today by a more desperate team and Emory outplayed Hank. We have to have the better goaltending and defense in this series to win. That's our advantage and we better take advantage of it because their forwards are better than ours.

AV has his work cut out for him - we dominated game one, but they made some very good adjustments today and for over 2 periods, somehow we didn't have a response. Its up to AV to get this team better prepared for game 3. That's what playoff series are - moves and countermoves. We need to respond.

says some ridiculously stupid shit, wow
relax paul
Rangersin7 : 3:07 pm : link
Its a long series. Is this the first playoffs you have watched? It is 1 game. They need to get their shit together but they still should win this series. I would dress Carcillo though in Philly.
Wish Kreider was healthy
nyjuggernaut : 3:12 pm : link
We could use his size and toughness.

Right now we are basically relying on two lines. Still think JT Miller would give more right now than Fast.
I would replace Fast for the next game..
arcarsenal : 3:20 pm : link
Either Carcillo or Miller. He's just not a factor. I like his upside but he's just not ready for these games, IMO.
that was a bad loss
oipolloi : 3:24 pm : link
the team appeared to have such momentum going into the game

but the Flyers exploited their size advantage
Flyers got their forecheck going ...
baadbill : 3:35 pm : link
but they weren't out-hitting the Rangers ... I expect the series to get much much more physical starting Tue in Philly ...

Today's game was soooo big, but it's over and Philly now has home ice advantage ... so, it would be REALLY nice to win the first one in Philly on Tue

Go Rangers!
Without Henrik in the 3rd it could've been much worse
Simmonds was robbed on the doorstep and Henrik stopped Hall (I believe) who beat his man and came in all alone with impressive patience. Not to mention the open shot point by Schenn where Henrik corralled the rebound in front of an uncovered Flyer. The Rangers got dominated for long stretches of play and Lundqvist bailed them out on a few occasions.
So apparently the Flyers weren't going to roll over
mfsd : 4:06 pm : link
and die after all. Well then it's time to but the fuck up and take 2 games in the sewer

but, as in NUT the fuck up
He stopped Hall (their Brian Boyle) and Simmonds
MetsAreBack : 4:07 pm : link
meanwhile, the Rangers had door step shots from Zucc in the 3rd as well as from Nash and Stepan late in the 2nd. And I'm probably forgetting a few others.

Hank didn't bail anything out today... 3 goals get in on their first 15 shots... Hank wasn't bad by any means, he was 'fine'... but Emory was better.
Klein
MookGiants : 4:12 pm : link
and Brassard were the two responsible for the 2nd and 3rd goals. Klein was sitting there with his thumb up his ass on the 2nd not moving anyone from the front of the net or trying to play the puck, and Brassard didn't back check at all on the 3rd and let the defenseman go right by him and put the rebound in
Well Pagan Sex Day is ruined

While I think Paul might be overreacting a bit
Essex : 4/21/2014 8:22 am : link
i don't think he is as far off as people think, nor do I think people should be criticizing him as people on this thread were overreacting to game 1 and predicting a short series. In fact, the whole media predicting that we win in 5 was absurd. If we are going to win, it is going to be a long series. We do not score with enough efficiency to win a short series against a team like the Flyers who finished two points behind us and started even worse than we did. We have played very well on the road (not in philly though), but they have also played well at home. I am very concerned that we are going to lose this series in 6. Plus, our coach is 1-11 in his last 12 playoff games, that does not give me great comfort.
....
BrettNYG10 : 4/21/2014 8:46 am : link
Essex, I disagree - I think we're a lot better than the Flyers, and if we need seven games to take them out, we don't have a shot of going real deep. I felt like we really needed to knock them out in five, maybe six. We did everything we shouldn't have yesterday. We were undisciplined, started playing with our arms instead of our legs (reaching for pucks when we should have been pumping, which was surprising since we seemed to roll four lines throughout the game), and clearly being thrown off due to the Flyers physical play.

We're the better team. It'd be a disappointment not to win this one.

Our coach coached a different team in a completely different city for 10 of those 12 games. Seems like a totally irrelevant stat to me.

Also, yes.. when a poster suggests a team might be out of gas after 2 freaking playoff games and wonders if we will ever win one more game in these playoffs, he is being very, very ridiculous.

The Rangers went outside themselves yesterday. We jumped out to a 2-0 lead and then let the Flyers play their game rather than force them to continue playing ours. There were a lot of sloppy plays and too much undisciplined hockey. The Rangers should win this series but they've got to get back to what worked so well for them in game 1.
I think this is a good rangers team
Essex : 4/21/2014 8:55 am : link
but I still think it suffers from the same fatal flaw that we have suffered from in 2012 and 2013, which is not scoring regularly. We are plainly a better defensive team and should be better in the net. But, they are a good offensive team that can score lots of goals. They have Vinny LeCav as fourth line center. They bring four scoring lines to the table and given our mediocre scoring production, that is a problem. I guess my best hope, like in every other year in recent times, is we just score enough. In any series, Game 3 is a huge, but I feel like the Game 3 winner will take the series. Hopefully, it is us and we dispatch Philly in 5 or 6. Just not confident we will.
Statistic in the Post today:
BrettNYG10 : 4/21/2014 8:57 am : link
Lost our last eight playoff games while up one game.
If Henrik can't outplay Ray fucking Emery, they're in trouble
Greg from LI : 4/21/2014 8:58 am : link
That's the bottom line to yesterday's game. Their superstar goalie got outplayed by a garbage goalie.
....
BrettNYG10 : 4/21/2014 9:01 am : link
I know what Paul was getting at - we looked like we had dead legs yesterday.
i just hope they are bluffing with Mason
Essex : 4/21/2014 9:03 am : link
having the goal of playing in game 3. If he doesn't play, we will beat Ray Emery.
We have the firepower to put pucks in the net.
BrettNYG10 : 4/21/2014 9:05 am : link
Goals will be hard to come by. Lundqvist will steal a game or two for us, but our offense needs to get it done.
Paul's post was ridiculous.
arcarsenal : 4/21/2014 9:11 am : link
Every team has games like that in the playoffs. We've been through this enough in recent years to know better.

Yeah, you're right. I need to shower after almost comprehending Paul.
Turning Point for me was...
mvftw : 4/21/2014 10:00 am : link
the 4-3 power play...let's pass the puck for 2 mins...I told my kid, the game will change after this PP...if they score on it, they win...
I thought for sure they'd win every game, right up to the finals..
Davisian : 4/21/2014 10:06 am : link
But now I'm convinced they'll never win another.

I just don't know how they'll overcome one loss.....

It was a huge
Jerry in DC : 4/21/2014 10:25 am : link
missed opportunity for sure - up a game and 2 goals we could've really dropped the hammer on them. From that position, you'd feel pretty confident about the series and now it's back to being close to a 50/50 proposition.

But it shouldn't really be that surprising that we lost a game. We're pretty evenly matched with Philly and teams drop games all the time. Boston and Pittsburgh both dropped a game at home. It's pretty unlikely that any series will be a cakewalk for any team, especially one like the Rangers that had almost the same # of points as their opponents.
This game pisses us all off for one main reason
Greg from LI : 4/21/2014 10:27 am : link
Losing playoff games is gonna happen. What's infuriating is blowing an early two goal lead, especially when facing a terrible goaltender.
Philly can't skate with us (as proven in game 1)
redbeard : 4/21/2014 11:47 am : link
and we can't bang with Philly (as proven in game 2). If we are gonna get out of this series we need to dictate the style of play, as we were for the first portion of yesterday's game.

Both teams are built for very different styles of hockey and neither has the capacity to play the other's game. Whoever forces the issue and dictates the style wins the series IMO
Yes, it's frustrating
Matt M. : 4/21/2014 12:01 pm : link
But, it isn't like they all of a sudden collapsed in the 3rd. Even when they had the lead, the game was really much closer than the score indicated. Philly did more of dictating the style and pace of the game throughout, even when they were trailing. All game, it just seemed like a matter of time.
I'm definitely concerned about McDonaugh
MetsAreBack : 4/21/2014 12:02 pm : link
he's looked pretty bad these first two games, IMO. Clearly not close to 100%... even on their first goal yesterday where he was caught badly out of position, if healthy I'm certain he pokes that puck away from Voracek.

Rick Nash now has 2 goals in 18 career playoff games, 1 in 14 games as a Ranger. Our stars (Nash, our Defenders, Hank) need to start playing like stars in this series.

Tuesday night cant get here fast enough - there's losing in the playoffs... and then there's losing to these orange creamsickle shitstains that has me with a really bad taste in my mouth for over 24 hours now.

And Fuck the NHL for scheduling that game at 12pm on Easter sunday.
All Emery, all the time.

well, that SHOULD bite them in the ass

Yesterday notwithstanding, Emery sucks.
also time to unleash TRJT
Davisian : 4/21/2014 12:38 pm : link
..
I doubt
MookGiants : 4/21/2014 12:39 pm : link
Mason plays in this series.
.
arcarsenal : 4/21/2014 12:41 pm : link
Fast needs to take a seat.
I don't know if he "needs" to take a seat
Davisian : 4/21/2014 12:53 pm : link
He makes some pretty smart little plays in the d zone and isn't afraid of the physical game, but I'd just like to see TRJT in a game..
.
arcarsenal : 4/21/2014 12:58 pm : link
Well, if we want Miller in there who else are we sitting?

I like Fast's upside and think he can be a solid player.. I just don't see enough from him right now for him to be blocking Miller whom I think is just a better player right now and a guy who has a little more size to throw around.

we pretty much agree, just your phrasing sucked.
Davisian : 4/21/2014 1:01 pm : link
Its more about wanting to see Miller than Fast needing to get out.

Get your phrasing and game thread shit together.
Fuck the NHL for their fucking bullshit fucking scheduling.

arcarsenal : 4/21/2014 1:13 pm : link
Well, stop being so fuckin' nitpicky and just fuckin' agree.

I tried to exorcise the game 2 demon. I just ran out of gas. Probably never going to win a game again. Series is over, man.
Let me get this straight
Wuphat : 4/21/2014 1:17 pm : link
arc takes it fast in the seat.
if the real Ray Emery shows up in game three
Greg from LI : 4/21/2014 1:19 pm : link
Mason could definitely play in game four.
I have a hard time AV is going to trust TRJT enough
MetsAreBack : 4/21/2014 1:21 pm : link
to put him in the middle of a tight playoff series. He wouldnt even give this kid minutes in January.

Let's face it... TRJT is in AV's "bow wow house" and he ain't getting out until next October barring an injury to one of our top 6 (and even then....).

I do think we need to see Carcillo tomorrow night.
.
arcarsenal : 4/21/2014 1:22 pm : link
I think Mason's got a concussion so who knows how long he's going to be out. I definitely wouldn't be surprised if he didn't play at all in this series.
What I don't get is...
Greg from LI : 4/21/2014 1:23 pm : link
He doesn't trust Miller, but he trusts Fast?

Carcillo would be fine by me. I'm continually shocked to be saying this, but he played his role quite well as a Ranger.
From my point of view...
FatMan in Charlotte : 4/21/2014 1:34 pm : link
Emery didn't even play all that great yesterday. We had several open areas of the net from close range and kept hitting them right into emery's midsection.

That's the way it goes sometimes. Philly got a couple easy rebound goals, and the Rangers squandered their premium shots on net.

Most games, they are putting a couple of those in and there is a different outcome. I think taking the 2-0 lead was the worst thing for them because they seemed to relax until the game was tied.
yeah fats, they pulled a few "Davisians"
Davisian : 4/21/2014 1:40 pm : link
Get a prime scoring opportunity and toss a muffin at the goalies logo.
