NFT: 30 for 30- Bad Boys

I never realized that the Pistons played in the Pontiac Dome for 10 years before moving to Auburn hills. After doing a little research I realized that they have only shared an arena with the Redwings for 5 years in the late 50s. Does anyone know why the Pistons didn't end up in Joe Louis arena with the Redwings.

because they wanted to move out of a dying, decrepit city and move to the suburbs.

I know, but then why would the Redwings stay?

I loved the Bad Boy Pistons for sticking it to the goddamned Bulls, but given what transpired with the Knicks I get violently ill every time I see Isiah Thomas' face.
