NFT: Mini Tablet Recommendations

Bchurch : 4/21/2014 4:57 pm
I am looking to purchase a new tablet and would appreciate any insight that you guys could offer. I would like to go for a smaller tablet so that I can easily take notes at work and have access to surf the web. It seems like the smaller tablets would be easier to type with and mange. I’m not big on the stylists so that wouldn't be a big selling point for me.

I’m an android guy and currently have the Samsung S4, so was naturally thinking of piggybacking on top of that and go for one of the Samsung tablets (Note or Tab) but after doing some research I see a lot of positive reviews around the Nexus 7.

If someone could help point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Really all I use to do the things you mentioned. Own a regular iPad and rarely use it.
My wife loves her Nexus 7

wait for the Nexus 8. It will be announced in June and available a few months later.

It will be built by HTC (not Asus) and is expected to be loaded with a lot of new features.

Yes, the iPad Mini is an excellent Android tablet, just like he wants.
Look at the 8 inch

I had a 7 inch Samsung Tablet for about a year before I dropped it and need to replace. Got a dirt cheap 8 inch Dell on black Friday ($129). I will never go back to 7 inch again. That one inch is big difference.

Staples tends to have a good selection of tablets available to try, so I'd suggest show-rooming there.

As for which one, well, the Dell is underpowered compared to the Samsung or Nexus, but I knew that and it is perfect for my needs. Absolutely no regrets there. The Samsung is way overpriced. The Nexus 7 and 8 are good tablets.

Android probable makes better hardware, but Apple has the best echo system. Don't try to save $100 bucks, Apple has approximately a 35% market share yet iPads accounts for approximately 80% of the time spent on tablets.

Depends on your choice of form factor

I've got a Nexus 7 and my son has an LG G pad that's an 8. Both are great and hover around the $200-230 mark. The screen on the G Pad is phenomenal while the Nexus 7 is small enough to hold on a subway with one hand without getting fatigued.

Very happy with it. Fits in my back pocket if it's not in its cover (purchased seperately) and very comfortable to hold/read. I've got the 16gb model and don't miss the extra memory but I'm not a gamer
