NFT: iTunes Question: New Laptop

bigbluehoya : 4/21/2014 8:38 pm
My music library is currently all on a MacBook from ~2009ish. The library consists of music that I have purchased from iTunes as well as music that I had downloaded previously, uploaded from CDs, etc.

I need to "relocate" my music library to a newer ~2013 Lenovo PC.

Anyone gone through this before? I would like to avoid purchasing an external hard drive if possible...

Google searches have pointed me to either Apple-centric instructions (moving from Apple to Apple or from PC to Apple, but not the other way...) or disjointed and confusing tech internet forums...
my old Mac harddrive was cloned onto the new, larger Mac one

it worked fine for me.
If you have a home network you should be able to set both

Apples to share and then you can copy over the music files. I did that when I got an iMac and transferred all of my picture files and also music files.

no clue how to do it without an external hard drive, but frankly, you should have an external hard drive for backup anyway, so just bite the bullet.

As long as you have an iTunes account and the computers are on the same network, it's pretty easy. Mac to PC isn't an issue.
