I'm trying to get these 2 SATA drives and IDE drive to work together.
Basically I have a DG33TL Intel mobo and I had it set up with an IDE drive and older SATA drive. They were working fine.
I bought a new WD-Black SATA drive to add to it. When I plug in the new SATA drive, I no longer see the IDE drive in neither BIOS nor Windows. When I unplug it then I see the IDE drive.
I also noticed that windows loads A LOT faster when I have the new SATA drive plugged in. So is this just a case where the IDE is slowing it down and just go with the 2 SATA's?
You have the HDD connected as a Master? with the Master jumper in place? Is there also a CD/DVD on the IDE cable?
Of course, if you can get away with not having the drive in there altogether that would be the way to go. You could then just disable IDE in the BIOS altogether. The less devices and busses your system has to detect and load, the faster the boot time.
The IDE drive is set on Master and it is the only device connected on that cable.
As far as the BIOS being updated....I have to check that. Also though when I have the new SATA in there, it doesn't show up in My Computer in Windows 7 pro. I go to Disk Management to assign it a letter but it doesn't give me that option. I'm assuming I have to partition it?
