NFT: Great Plains software (Microsoft erp), reviews?

Davisian : 4/22/2014 1:21 pm
Anybody use and/or involved with this software?

Am I close in thinking its between SAP and simply using quick books as far as ERP's go on the finance side?

I've used oracle and Great Plains

In addition to the two you listed.

Can you explain what it is you will be doing? What kind of volume of transactions?
I've used Great Plains and found it to be very easy to navigate.

I'm not familiar with SAP but Great Plains is far more robust than quick books.
When I worked for GE

we implemented Great Plains, and you're right about where it fits.

Good product for small businesses who need a G/L, sales order, purchase order, etc. software application.

You might also check out Microsoft Small Business Manager.

The main downside is they are written in a language called Dexterity, so if you need to modify them it's a pain in the ass, since there are like 100 dexterity programmers in the world, but if you don't need to modify the code at all then no big deal.
