Had a nice little game yesterday, so lets just keep his confidence down by sitting him tonight. Not that there is a great difference between him and Q but kinda weird ti not reward Tejada for his play yesterday
What is the point of keeping Kirk with the ball club
If he is not going to get AB's? Eric Young Jr. could have been the fallback in CF with Andrew Brown playing LF if something happened to Chris Young during a game. Not like Granderson is doing anything worth a starting spot lately so why not give him a day off?
is the back-up CF, Brown wasnt doing anything outside of opening day 3 run homer. Granderson should be out there everyday to get out of his funk, he's not this bad.
looks lost. He is taking his eyes off the ball and I saw him miss a fastball right down the middle by about 2 feet. he wasn't even close to it. Guy strikes out on 3 pitches more than anybody i have ever seen. The strikeouts at the top of the line-up are killing us. He's already getting booed and there are still 8 days left in April.
I've purposely avoided the Granderson issue. I didn't want him and I do think he's in decline (he's 33) but I suspect he bounces back and is a .750-.780 or so player for the next 2 years. Sadly, I do think it's going to get ugly on the tail end. Saw this on another site-
So his decline isn't exactly out of the blue. Bay was pretty shocking. Granderson isn't this bad but odds are the Mets will end up regretting the deal. I understand the rationale however.
will say I think he needs to move to LF and I would strongly suggest only playing him vs. righties (for now) to get him some confidence/clear his mind a bit. Then work him back in vs. lefties. Totally understand we don't have a great bench but a few hits vs. righties and maybe he gets going.
Wong are all struggling at the plate right now. They won't be cold all season, but it's been a slow start for all but Yadi and Matt Adams. The rotation is fine and hiking up their end.
He's making Jason Bay look good. When he gets the ball past the pitcher it should be considered a successful at-bat. There are cold starts and there is Grandersonville. Unreal!
Of course now that I've said it, he'll catch fire(hopefully.)

There is a player right now who has 1 HR, is hitting .206, has 15 strikeouts to 13 hits.. he has scored 3 runs all year.
His name is Miguel Cabrera.
No, Curtis Granderson can't wipe Miggys ass. My point is that a lot of guys are off to bad starts. Stanton has more K's than Grandy, Harper is still stuck on 1 HR along with Cano and a bunch of other really good players.
Granderson isn't great but he's not this bad. His numbers will trend back upwards soon.
I was thinking the same thing about Collins not starting Tejada
NEW YORK -- Terry Collins did not say a specific date. But the manager suggested he might give this lineup a month -- with Curtis Granderson No. 2, Daniel Murphy No. 4 and Lucas Duda No. 6 -- before eventually placing Duda in the cleanup spot.
"We've put a lot on Lucas' plate in the past week," Collins said about the reluctance to use Duda as a cleanup hitter now. "I don't want to pile on."
Q PT: Why is Ruben Tejada on the bench a night after making two stellar diving plays up the middle? Collins said he scripted out before the series that Omar Quintanilla's lone start against St. Louis would come Tuesday. Quintanilla is 4-for-12 with two doubles lifetime against Adam Wainwright. Collins added that Wednesday starter Michael Wacha "eats up" lefty hitters, so the only alternative would have been Thursday. Collins said Tejada will start the final two games of the series.
If Collins in answering why he didn't pinch hit for Tejada in an obvious pinch hitting situation just a couple games ago hadn't said "You shouldn't have to pinch hit for your everyday players"
Collins just seems all over the place with his reasoning about some of his baseball decisions.
And how about just putting Duda in the cleanup spot since they went with him over Ike. All this massaging their fragile personalities seems like a manager over thinking things. Give him the job and see if he doesn't respond as they need him to.
I don't mean to rant but Collins is wearing on me a little. Give me Wally Backman at this point and I think he gets more out of this currently constructed team.

Not good news for #StLCards fans with Adam Wainwright out after 79 pitches with potential leg injury.

Adam Wainwright done after seven scoreless innings and 79 pitches. Not sure extent of injury, but landed poorly leaping for chopper.
bases loaded situations, and more misery for Allen Craig and Kolten Wong. It's very telling that the Cards are 2-9 in games when they've scored fewer than four runs and both of those were with Wainwright pitching. The Cards have significant offensive problems right now for a team with championship aspirations.
By the way, I think that play by Jay was dirty. That should have been ruled on under the new rule protecting the catcher, in my opinion.
yeah the play by Jay was dirty, mostly because TdA
had his back to him and Jay purposely went out of his way to take him out. That could have really injured him. And Jay knew it too...he was laughing in the dugout right after.
However, it is a legal play. Worse than taking out a second baseman during a double play but still legal so im not going to get crazy about it. But its fucked up to aim for a guys knees when his back is to you. Id be furious is TdA ended up getting hurt because of that play.

Mets wOBA .279-29th, wRC+ 76-29th
Cardinals wOBA .298-23rd, wRC+ 88-23rd
Mets are 4th in baserunning, Cardinals 28th
I assume the Cardinals are just off to a cold start but sometimes good teams disappoint.
2012: 269 AB, 212/.278/.480 (.758 OPS)
2013: 214 AB, .229/.317/.407 (.724 OPS)
2014: 66 AB, .121/.263/.313 (.451 OPS)

Players love coming to the Mets and setting their own worst personal records.
Wainwright is a better hitter than Granderson.

Jason Bay
Johan Santana
