JPP said he now weighs 270 pounds -- 15 pounds lighter than the 285 he was at last year.

Money is a strong motivator.
Was it a boy or a girl?

So...
BamaBlue : 4/22/2014 4:03 pm : link
does this mean JPP was dogging-it in 2013?
and he was heavier than 285

during training camp after the SB.
Great!!

Now he can be lighter and still suck. we need help on that D line otherwise JPP will get doubled all day and no one get to the QB.

not really what you want to hear from your 25 year old franchise defensive player.
I hope that quote means:

I've grown up.
Great news
GiantTuff1 : 4/22/2014 4:36 pm : link
he was such a destructive force in 2011. I will never understand if a guy is playing so well and is incredibly explosive at one size why you make him unnaturally gain weight to the point he could lose it.

Maybe 5 pounds is nothing, but 15 is a big deal. I'm glad he slimmed down.
I don't think the Giants told him
Blue Baller : 4/22/2014 4:38 pm : link
to go out and put on a 15b beer belly
can he still do backflips?
Neverend : 4/22/2014 4:41 pm : link
he sure as fuck couldn't do it when his body fat spiked after the superbowl year
With his recent back ailments,

I'm sure he's on a prescription of no more flips until his NFL career is over.
I hope

he regains his form and consistent drive to succeed....but I'm not holding my breath for either.
Hopefully the lighter weight

means that they stop using him at defensive tackle except for rare occasions (true passing downs not 2nd and 8 for example). Leave the inside defensive pass rush to people like Jenkins and maybe Donald.

It's not like [most of] what he gained was unnecessary or new muscle, if we're honest.
We can only hope

that JPP returns to 2011 form. I'm sort of pessimistic about that though. So many times I wished a player could return to previous form after an injury and I've been disappointed so damn many times.

I hope we get the great JPP but I'm not counting on it at all.

I would think JPP bounces back okay.
Jimmy Googs : 4/22/2014 5:49 pm : link
Maybe not to his insane 2011 season, but got to be better than the last 2 years.

I have a feeling though we will continue to get the "drama queen" stuff as well he has developed over the past year. That seems to be his personality now.
In thinking about the loss of the 15 pounds...
Dan in the Springs : 4/22/2014 5:53 pm : link
keep in mind that he was coming off back surgery, which obviously would have limited his exercise and likely slowed his metabolism. Glad to see he was willing to do the work to slim back down.
he looked like

his old self in that oakland game
JPP verloren 6,803 kg

I'm pretty confident he'll be back to living up to his potential
ImaGiant86 : 4/22/2014 11:23 pm : link
as long as he's able to avoid another injury.
he struck me as less cocky, more mature,
Great White Ghost : 4/23/2014 1:49 am : link
more committed in his interviews, as did most of the Giants players. even wilson to an extent. Exception was Randle who inspired nothing.
It seems that Randle took up Nicks as his mentor...
Damon : 4/23/2014 9:12 am : link
Cruz needs to take him under his wing this year.
Haha, yeah.
Curtis in VA : 4/23/2014 9:16 am : link
Listening to Randle speak is a lot like watching a baseball game.

Gotta get that next contract
