Yanks!
A current Yankee starter
Phil in LA : 4/22/2014 5:01 pm : link
vs. a Future Yankee starter;)
for the non-locals, the game is being carried
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 5:02 pm : link
tonight on MLB Network. Interested to get a first live look at Tanaka, should be a good matchup as Lester has had a very strong start to the season.
bite your tongue Phil!
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 5:03 pm : link
The increasing likelihood of that scenario is going to bother the hell out of me the longer he goes without a contract extension.
Ichiro gets the nod over Gardy in the OF
mfsd : 4/22/2014 5:04 pm : link
Ichiro is having better than expected season so far, and he's hit Lester well in his career
I'm gonna go out on a limb
Exit 172 : 4/22/2014 5:09 pm : link
and predict that the Sox will throw at the Yanks at some point in this series.

I'll also go out on another limb and predict that spring will be followed by summer.

Over/under on number of fastballs that hit Jeter on the hand this series has to be 2
Oh come on now
BigBlueShock : 4/22/2014 5:38 pm : link
this is the lovable, small market, disadvantaged gamers, that you're talking about here. They wouldn't intentionally throw at anyone, just ask BSPN, they'll tell ya
just for that
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 5:41 pm : link
Lackey's going to plunk one tomorrow in your honor Shock *grin*
Haha
BigBlueShock : 4/22/2014 5:43 pm : link
I'm honored, WM
speaking of plunking
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 5:50 pm : link
anyone have a guess at why Carlos Gomez has lost his mind?
given that a few guys on the Pirates
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 5:57 pm : link
had been doing the same thing in games prior and the Brewers let it slide, then a rookie calls out Gomez (who is known to be, well, volatile) for the same thing even after he hauled ass and got to 3rd clean on the play... dude blew his stack. The real asshole in the fracas was the backup catcher, straight up sucker punched a guy in the face.
i'm wondering
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 6:02 pm : link
whether the additional 20 or so pounds of muscle Gomez has added have anything to do with his volatile personality. He went from being a speedster with no pop to a legit 5 tool talent.
Nuno
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 6:05 pm : link
has officially been named as the Yankees number 5 starter.

that's no shock, at least IMO.

So if Nuno is the #5, Tanaka must be the #1, since we are Tanaka-Pineda-CC-Kuroda-Nuno at the moment. :-)
"officially"
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 6:09 pm : link
don't mean Vidal.

I'll hope he can stick but man he has zero room for error.
he does share a locker room with a known lying user
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 6:09 pm : link
ain't the first time he's incited a brawl, video of a scrap with the Braves in the link.
link - ( New Window )
Gerritt Cole can eat a dick as far as I'm concerned
Greg from LI : 4/22/2014 6:18 pm : link
.
On a totally different note
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 6:26 pm : link
has anyone seen what Kevin Towers has done to the Arizona Diamondbacks? That team was an up and coming team before he took over. It is amazing the amount of talent he has given away as a general manager of the Dbacks. He traded Justin Upton, Jarrod Parker, Trevor Bauer, Eaton, Skaggs, and Davidson. Their system isn't very good either. I wonder how he manages to keep his job. The team looks horrible this season with a very poor immediate future.
This is a big game
PaulN : 4/22/2014 6:31 pm : link
On a few levels, but the biggest is how will Tanaka match up against the Red Sox, plus, can he then match up against Lester, the Yankee killer. It is always a huge series when the Yanks play the Red Sox. But the other thing is Ellsbury's return to Fenway, how will he do against his former team, we know how the fans will react to him, can he use it to motivate himself.
If Tanaka goes out tonight
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 6:34 pm : link
and takes them down there is going to be an explosion of Tanakadom.

Now to try to finish work so I can enjoy the fireworks...
I hope they give Ellsbury a good cheer at introductions
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 6:35 pm : link
he was a big part in winning two titles. If he does anything at the dish though, then give him what for.
big start for Tanaka
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/22/2014 6:42 pm : link
would love another 7+ IP 2 ER 8 K type of start.

He is eventually going to get lit up, I'd hate it if the first time came in Fenway.
Pierzynski
Rob in NYC : 4/22/2014 6:51 pm : link
Really fits in that lineup - sort of the icing on top of a cake of unlikeable douches.
they needed a one year placeholder at C
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 6:53 pm : link
Christian Vazquez should be ready to take the spot next year, kid has a cannon for an arm behind the plate.
vazquez all field
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 6:57 pm : link
no hit catcher. if his bat doesn't catch up he could end up as a backup catcher.
he's not going to be mashing at the plate
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:06 pm : link
but he's hitting for average better last season and has continued that thus far this spring. We've got Swihart already up to AA for the offensive catcher in the system.
what a crock of shit
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 7:13 pm : link
fan interferes and takes a 3B/HR from Ellsbury?
dipshit fan
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:13 pm : link
security is going to escort him from the premises.
finally
MookGiants : 4/22/2014 7:14 pm : link
umpires use their fucking brain and put the runner where they actually should be instead of just blindly calling it a double.

If they used their heads in 2004 on Tony Clark's double where Sierra could have crawled home that collapse never happens
Should be a triple
NYerInMA : 4/22/2014 7:14 pm : link
Stupid Bruins' fan, what do you expect?
there needs to be a rule change
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 7:14 pm : link
for fan interference behind the OF fence to ensure they get a triple. I'm fine with side-line interference resulting in a double but this is ridiculous.
and already in the hole
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:15 pm : link
fucking hell.
wow
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 7:15 pm : link
common sense prevails. Amen.

RBI Jeter

1-0

SUCK IT Lester
what in the flying fuck
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:16 pm : link
defense, get some... ugh.
nice
MookGiants : 4/22/2014 7:16 pm : link
good base running from Jeter
atta boy Cap
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 7:17 pm : link
ahem

SUCK IT Lester.
2-0
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 7:18 pm : link
must be a Tuesday.
11 game hitting streak for the Cap
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/22/2014 7:18 pm : link
.
finally breaks out the curve
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:18 pm : link
get an out Jon, lets not have this get out of hand early
Albert Pujols with HR #499
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/22/2014 7:20 pm : link
he has looked really good of late.
more runs
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 7:20 pm : link
yanks
glad that one died in left
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:26 pm : link
ugly inning.
Solarte just missed that one
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 7:27 pm : link
he is going to like the Monster.
made Lester work
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/22/2014 7:27 pm : link
27 pitches in the 1st for him.
i totally
MookGiants : 4/22/2014 7:28 pm : link
thought he at least hit that ball off the ball, instead it was a lazy short fly ball. Odd
Nice to give Tanaka a 2 spot
mfsd : 4/22/2014 7:28 pm : link
to work with. But that inning could have been bigger
where did this guy Solarte come from?
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:29 pm : link
Looks like quite the find thus far.
There were some subdued boos for Ellsbury
mfsd : 4/22/2014 7:29 pm : link
but also looked like plenty of fans gave him a nice round of applause, good for them
Ellsbury with a great
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 7:31 pm : link
catch.

Of course he's getting booed. Only in Boston.
