there we go Pedroia
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:32 pm : link
good baserunning, lets bring him in
that swing and a miss by shrek
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 7:35 pm : link
just made my night.
which homeless player
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 7:36 pm : link
is batting now
I'll never understand the Yankee anti-facial hair bias
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:38 pm : link
Napoli is up, and one of the few hot hitters on the team right now
Tanaka
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 7:39 pm : link
2 straight k's. Very nice start.
That splitter
MookGiants : 4/22/2014 7:39 pm : link
is deadly
Nice
Phil in LA : 4/22/2014 7:39 pm : link
Tanaka was 94 and 95 with his four seamers. Must be a warm night.
is it too early
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/22/2014 7:40 pm : link
to be completely sold on the guy?
another runner stranded
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:41 pm : link
joy. If his splitter keeps running like that it's going to be a long night.
a well groomed person
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 7:41 pm : link
is a reflection of the person(s) they represent. I'm glad the Sox have no problem with wearing their jock straps on the outside of their uniforms. It makes for a more accurate and compelling narrative.
No
Phil in LA : 4/22/2014 7:41 pm : link
he's got stuff, pitch ability and composure. What else could you want?
i am just thankful
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 7:41 pm : link
that the yankees got him. imagine this team without nova and tanaka? we would be f'd.
Ichiro has found the fountain of youth,
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 7:42 pm : link
i need to know where it is.
Paulie's nephew had another HR tonight for Charleston...
Dunedin81 : 4/22/2014 7:43 pm : link
very much a feast or famine player. If he has Paulie's temper I'd hate to be a water cooler in the Riverdogs dugout, considering how much he strikes out.
oh fer fucks sake
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:43 pm : link
even Roberts gets on? I need a drink.
that was brian roberts that got a hit?
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 7:43 pm : link
wow
this team
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/22/2014 7:44 pm : link
would be in deeep shit without Tanaka.

I hope Masahiro keeps it up, I'm liking what I'm seeing.
I can live with him striking out
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 7:45 pm : link
I cannot live with him not walking. Not sure why this guy was rated so high on draft lists.
let's break it open
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/22/2014 7:45 pm : link
.
hmmm the guy in left field
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 7:46 pm : link
looks like the guy tanaka just k'd.
Ellsbury lifts it to the track in LF
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 7:46 pm : link
aka 249ft from home plate.
You're seeing a little of it this year...
Dunedin81 : 4/22/2014 7:48 pm : link
in the speed/power combo. But yeah, the lack of patience is really limiting. For O'Brien too, but with his power it may be forgivable.
tight zone
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:49 pm : link
and he walked em loaded, this is going to get ugly
i am not a fan of players
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 7:49 pm : link
that have a combination of not waling and k'ing too much. to me those aren't yankee type players. i would rather field a team of all bernie williams in his prime then players like o'brien.
those were both balls
MookGiants : 4/22/2014 7:49 pm : link
but he has been calling them strikes most of the game so far. That's probably what annoys Lester, the 2-2 pitch was a strike a few other times
Lester looks like
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 7:50 pm : link
Jeter just took a dump in his mouth.

It's called a strike zone John. Unlike the Yankees universe, it is not infinite.
holy shit he escapes
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:50 pm : link
great turn by Pedroia
damnit
MookGiants : 4/22/2014 7:50 pm : link
hit it right on the nose but right at the 3rd basemen, shit. Really could have done damage there
yea the strike zone is
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/22/2014 7:51 pm : link
a little weird tonight.

Yup, Lester has a fair gripe, they were balls but Tanaka got a couple of those
wow does Lester get lucky
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 7:51 pm : link
Beltran smashes it into a DP. Frack.
ugh
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/22/2014 7:52 pm : link
Time Tanakum out
the worst strike zones are the inconsistent ones
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 7:52 pm : link
I've got no problem with calling it tight, but when four pitches are to the same spot and two are balls and two are strikes that's shit.
Lester
MookGiants : 4/22/2014 7:52 pm : link
also got a couple of those before that AB. Both guys were getting a wide zone until the Jeter AB
sin
Dunedin81 : 4/22/2014 7:54 pm : link
O'Brien isn't really a free-swinger, he does take walks and he works counts. Just not as many walks as you'd like. He's also not a dead pull hitter, he has power to all fields so he should post a respectable BA. If you can get a .280/.340/.450-.500 line out of the guy you'd absolutely take it.
if he can do that in the majors that is fine
sinctybldh : 4/22/2014 7:57 pm : link
just not sure he will do as well as what u just posted. i think i would be surprised if he did.
O'Brien
Phil in LA : 4/22/2014 7:59 pm : link
will probably refine a bit more. The beginning of the year has been wort of a heat check for him.
I have no problem
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 7:59 pm : link
with inconsistent strike zones that favor the Yankees. In fact, i'm quite in favor of them.
watch, now Lester will retire like 14 in a row
Greg from LI : 4/22/2014 8:02 pm : link
They do this against him all the time - have him on the ropes early and then nothing

Or, maybe not. Hustle, Fonzie, jeez!
pull
MookGiants : 4/22/2014 8:02 pm : link
Soriano out of the game now. No fucking excuse for him to be on 2nd base
Lester getting hit hard tonight
Tittle 9 20 64 : 4/22/2014 8:02 pm : link
...
Soriano needs to stop
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 8:03 pm : link
Cano'ing. He should have had a triple.

rbi double!
RBI double Teix
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 8:04 pm : link
3-0

What was that idiot fan thinking? They sure make them special at Fenway.
Lester doesn't have much tonight
MookGiants : 4/22/2014 8:05 pm : link
he's lucky it's only 4-0
damn
WeatherMan : 4/22/2014 8:05 pm : link
this is not Lester's night.
RBI double McCann
RasputinPrime : 4/22/2014 8:06 pm : link
because he CAN CAN CAN!

I think Lester is going to cry.

4-0
Baseball is such a funny game
mfsd : 4/22/2014 8:06 pm : link
last inning Beltran hits a rocket with 2 on, that turns into a double play

This inning, Tex hits a little bloop for an RBI double
Teix!
