JPP VS> Kony Ealy...

dguy901 : 4/23/2014 2:10 pm
Just happened to check, JPP and K. Ealy are very similar regarding pre-draft analysis. All is virtually identical except the 40 time which, for some reason, Ealy didn't do as well. Clowney didn't do as well in the 3-cone as JPP or Ealy. What is your take, JPP vs Ealy vs Clowney?
Ealy isn't the athlete JPP is

he has no flexibility to his game. His get-off is poor as well. No first step. JPP uses his hands much better. Watch some tape of Ealy.. he doesn't have the upside or explosiveness to his game JPP did.
Ealy did better on his pro day...

on the 40. He's a pretty rare athlete and a hard-worker and may turn into an excellent pro. Someone may fall in love with the size/speed combination and take him early. I wouldn't even be shocked, or necessarily disappointed, if that team was the Giants (though I'd prefer we traded back to do it). But I think the disconnect between the raw ability, even the work ethic, and the on-field results is why teams seem sour on him.

JPP has

massive football instincts that can't be taught. Hopefully this is a big bounce back season for him.
I'm hoping for big bounceback for JPP

He had a white man high motor in 2011. That combined with his freak athletic skills, he was unstoppable.

This. It's not a great year for defensive ends. That could elevate his stock. I've also read that Barr is slipping. I still say he's in play at #12. I wouldn't take him, but he has the crazy length and "upside" that the Giants like. Right now, he's just a pass rusher, but he's only been playing defense for two years, and his progress from that point to potential top ten pick is astonishing. Remember also that the first guy Reese tried to sign in FA was that LB from Seattle with the bad knee.
^^^^^WTF? Black players don't have

"High motors"?

LT, Harry Carson, Michael Strahan, Carl Banks, George Martin, Mark Collins, and a bunch other former great Giants might disagree.

How about Ahmad Bradshaw? His motor ran at high levels even on damaged tires!

I'm pretty sure the white high motor thing was a joke. Usually that's a label less than athletic white players get.

I'm not going to try to misinterpret you here, but it does sound, perhaps, a bit uncomfortable.

I like Barr as a DE more than a LB. I just feel his downhill play will translate. As for Ealy, I do think he has the ability to be very good, his pro day 40 was good and his combine 3 cone was sub 7 seconds. In the end, I feel production is just as important as any measurable, so I really want Barr. I know I'm in the extreme minority on BBI.
