Giant draft info (don't kill the messenger)

Carl in CT : 4/23/2014 3:35 pm
A player from a source that NYG is "HIGH" on is Joel Bitonio. I don't know where they would draft him. (Should go after 1st but before second). They like his flexibility (like Martin). Just a name who hasn't been thrown around here much. Obviously picks before #12 dictate a lot. Keep a look out.
There is a decent chance
Jay on the Island : 4/23/2014 3:36 pm : link
that he will be there for the Giants in the 2nd.
Nothing groundbreaking.. Makes sense...
Damon : 4/23/2014 3:37 pm : link
He'll likely be there in Round 2.
Thanks for the information
Brandon Walsh : 4/23/2014 3:48 pm : link
there was a report today that the Seahawks, Panthers (end of the 1st) and Bucs (high 2nd are high on him).

Very good chance he isn't there with our 2nd pick.
agreed with the above

a very good chance he is, or isn't there in the 2nd.
Donald

and Bitonio would be a good one two punch. But both will likely be gone. Oh well.
Here's my personal asshattery:

had some tendon surgery as a result of tennis elbow this morning. One of the Doctors on the board was Truitt..

I think he meant our picks in those rounds.
Well I guess he's better than Brian Bitonio

ha ha ha.
Bitonio could be a plug and play answer at G

long term. I like him a lot. Should be there in the second.
If Donald and Bitonio aren't there for us,
yatqb : 4/23/2014 4:05 pm : link
we can certainly go with Martin and either WR or Niklas at 43 (if Niklas makes it there). We'll have some good options.

My fear is that the OL prospects thin out around the middle of round 3, so if we want a guy who could play in his first year we'd better take one early.

He's easy to like the more you read about him.

I liked Gabe Jackson as well, but he's less versatile and doesn't play to his size.
He had the
Pete in MD : 4/23/2014 4:19 pm : link
third best 3-cone drill among the OLs at the combine and you know JR loves the 3-cone superstars. I could also see them targeting OC Gabe Ikard, who had the top 3-cone time for an OL (and had a 4.0 GPA in college, whcih the team also likes in an OC.)
I Don't Think

He makes it to our pick in the 2nd. Alot of teams are high on him.

Are you kidding? Bitonio has been talked about quite a bit here.
Almost certain
mrvax : 4/23/2014 4:49 pm : link
the Giants (and the other teams) will get at least 2 good players in round 1 & 2. (Sorry Redskins.)

If Joel Bitonio in round 2, where does he play? He's never played guard in college. I hope he can make the transition.

They worked him out at every position in the Senior Bowl and he responded very well.
Bitonio is soaring up the draft boards
The_Taxman : 4/23/2014 5:03 pm : link
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Bitonio goes in the last 5 picks of the 1st round. I doubt he will be there when we pick in the 2nd. I'd rather take Martin or Lewan(or Matthews or Robinson if they miraculously fall) in the 1st and Niklas in the 2nd. We can't afford to pass up one of those 4 OL in this draft if they are available in the 1st. And with our glaring need at TE, Niklas should be the pick in the 2nd.

I agree. Offensive tackles usually go earlier than predicted.
Not shocking, his stock is soaring

Seen reports that his private workouts and interviews have been outstanding. Wonder if that means they intend to target skill players round 1.
I heard they like

ANGPASS : 4/23/2014 5:23 pm : link
Bitonio is projected in the second round in most drafts. If they get him, he better be pugh. i can totally see the giants drafting him and NOT donald because they seem to grab someone the fans never talk about.
Maybe because fans usually don't know

what they are talking about.

What meaning is there to any player "soaring up the draft boards"? Who is it that has access to the draft boards of the respective 32 teams? And if the answer is "nobody has that information" (which we know IS the answer), then we're talking about draft boards of people OUTSIDE of the NFL - which are worth ... well, what we all pay for them. So, Botonio is moving up in a bunch of non-NFL draft boards - and that is supposed to be significant because it signifies what exactly? That non-NFL people like him? That the 32 teams are watching those boards and therefore they adjust THEIR boards because of some mock draft lists published on the internet?

And - while I'm thinking about it - what kind of stupid thread is this anyway (sorry Carl, nothing personal) - but THE ONLY INFORMATION RELEASED BY TEAMS IN ADVANCE OF THE DRAFT IS MISINFORMATION. So, if anything, this means the Giants AREN'T interested in Bitonio (which is too bad, because I keep scoring an "A" when I grab him on first-pick.com)

Christ, this is, at least, a 5-round deep OL draft, with prospects of good quality at all levels. On what do you base your contention that OL will "thin out" in the middle of Round 3?
I could see them taking one of Bitinio or Fleming

But that meeting doesn't matter.

BBI is convinced there is no upside, whatsoever, of letting other teams know what you generally think about a position or a player prior to the Draft.
If
blue42 : 4/23/2014 7:58 pm : link
you do your homework on Martin and watch the tape and read what the Ravens front office thunks of him you wouldn't say he's a reach at 12.Some scouts think he's the cleanest player in the draft. That isn't a reach. He may go before 12....not many guys can play all five spots on the OL.
