ESPN’s Ed Werder threw fuel on the fire Wednesday afternoon by suggesting that the Cowboys could draft Manziel if he was available at No. 16, a sentiment backed up by an NFL scout, who informed Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report that Jerry Jones would eagerly take the plunge on Johnny Football. |

2014 - cap hit 11.7m dead money - 41.6M
2015 - cap hit 27.7m dead money - 19.9m
2016 - cap hit 17.6m dead money - 11.6m
that is a huge amount of money
If their window has passed, what has the Giants'? Lapped them?
They're not going to blow it up fully and rebuild until Romo can't go anymore -- and, while the individual moves they make in following it may not be smart or work out, that general sentiment is 100% right.

that 28m cap hit in 2015 is utterly hilarious.
If this report came out now, then I say smoke screen. Just another bullshit report coming out weeks before draft day.

And we thought out cap management was bad with Beatty. Holy shit!
The NFC East is weak enough that they can still compete for a division title with what they have now. As long as that is the case the Cowboys will not be looking to the future, but to next year.
Jerry will really need to get his glasses cleaned that off-season.
The first incomplete pass Romo throws would bring
"WE WANT JOHNNY" chants. Priceless.

So, with that said, say a prayer that JJ moves up to draft Johnny?
Personally, I see JM as a more athletic and clutch Romo so I wouldn't be crazy about them grabbing him. Maybe he has something up his sleeve regarding Romo's contract?
Would he do it? It is the glamorous type of pick (media wise) that he gets suckered into (by himself) all the time.
