Polarizing guys in the DRAFT per position

JOMO25 : 4/24/2014 8:38 am
QB: Johnny Manzeil, discussed in every news outlet ad nauseum

QB: Teddy Bridgewater - is he a pedestrian QB w/ limited tangibles but well thought of in terms of intangibles (i.e. a more accurate Andy Dalton) or are we knocking him down too much after the pro day?

RB: Jeremy Hill - most talented RB or not to be trusted b/c of off the field stuff?

RB: Kadeem Carey - trust his body of work or knock him down b/c of the slow 40?

WR: Kelvin Benjiman - weight concerns raise Mike Williams worries but what if he were a regarded as a pass catching weapon, used as the major forces at TE were used? I mean the guys that really don't block, they're just matchup nightmares (forget the pigeon holing a position on him). Think Hernandez or Graham. Huge body, hops, plays like an ex hoops guy. Who's going to cover this guy?

WR: Brandin Cooks - man if I could secure a (Carolina) Steve Smith type, I wouldn't project him outside of the top 20. Great player.

OT: Seantrel Henderson - is this guy a total loser or is there anyway he takes all that ability and translates it into a Bryant McKinnie (who had problems as well) type career? Nah, he's probably devoid of the necessary intangibles.

OT: Morgan Moses - well though of by many but seems slow footed and under developed muscularly. I don't see why he'd rank above Bitonio, Mewhort etc.

C: Richburg and Swanson seem like the same prospect to me. Experienced, smart, savvy, refined techniques, more pass blocker than run blocker, but both need an NFL weight room to elevate their games. Corey Lindsay seems to get little love. From what I've seen, he's an outstanding prospect.

DE: Kony Ealy - seems all about physical talent and very little technique/instincts to tout. Concerning.

Matter of fact, almost all of the DEs are polarizing guys. Very inconsistent opinions among draftniks.

DT: After Donald, I don't see any that merit a top 40 pick. After Hageman, I don't see any that merit a top 64 pick.

LB: Borland is Zach Thomas. But in todays pass happy NFL, is that projection de-valued? Well we know it is, but how much?

CB: Tons of good CBs available. Teams will get steals in md rounds w guys like Pierre Desir, Walt Aikens and Rashaad Reynolds.

S: Ed Reynolds reminds me of guys like David Yankey, Joel Bitonio, Jordan Matthews, Tyler Gaffney, Chris Borland etc. i.e. he may not be a physical marvel, but he's a well developed kid who won't need much time to acclimate into a productive NFL player. 40s aside, give me tough/strong/smart/diligent kids like Justin Pugh any day of the week.
Good list & fair.

Kelvin Benjamin might be the most frustrating of the bunch, just because all of the concerns. Weight, motivation, ect., but if you put a top 10 plays by wide receivers from this class, Benjamin would have about 3 of them by himself.

Jernigan not a top 64 at still ?
Don't

agree with your assessment of Moses. He played exceptionally well last season for a terrible team, and was excellent at the senior bowl. He's lost 35 pounds in the last two years, has 35" inch arms, and is an obliterator in the run game. I agree that he needs to work on his technique, but he stoned Vic Beasley, the LB from BYU, and others. I think he gave up two sacks in just over five hundred snaps. He be a good target in the mid twenties after a trade down.
I would add Ebron to your list

Based on a single question: Can he block?
yep, I forgot about Jernigan

Mike Evans

I see all of the talking heads saying he is a Top 10 guy, but if you watch the college film there are portions that are really ugly and can he separate from NFL DB's?

If you are looking for opinions, then yes, my opinion is that he is a top 5 player in this draft. I do believe he can separate, and more importantly he can win. Just throw him the ball.

Right after his craptastic pro day, most experts didn't drop him much, if at all. Folks claimed it wasn't a huge deal. I think it was the follow-up interviews, scouts reviewing the game tape again, and the fact Johnny football look so good in his pro day that has dropped him. Oh, and some how his "frame" magically shrunk since he played football since that is an "issue" you hear brought up now.
Regarding Evans
Tuckrule : 4/24/2014 10:47 am : link
IMO he is not going to be a very productive NFL player. I watched a ton of games mainly because of Manziel and Evans owes a lot to that little guy. Many of his "big" plays came off of Manziel ability to scramble and extend plays which allowed Evans time to get open. He is not football quick. Yes, he had a good 40 time but that is strait line speed and has little to do with a players ability to seperate. I think he's a poor mans Vincent Jackson.
Yankey may be turning into a polarizing prospect.

It's surprising, since he had the reputation early on as a "safe" pick.
