Seems inescapable that this is just a BAD TE draft class. Ebron has an 11% drop rate and questionable blocking, yet is considered a top-tier option. Amaro had one year of stellar production while being used more like a WR. Fiederowicz is considered pretty good all around, but he is not a self-starter and has skated on his size. The highest upside guy is probably Niklas, but that's a year or two down the road -- he's new to the position and I seriously doubt could be a Day One starter.
My question: Even as bad as we need a TE, should we really kill ourselves to get one of these guys, or just suck it this year and hope for better next year?
Its a better idea, in my mind, to draft with the future in mind. It wouldn't matter to me if Niklas is raw or if Ebron has a high drop rate and can't block right now. What matters is if I feel these deficiencies can be improved upon and I can develop this player into a top talent.
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with this if I think that high upside is attainable:
I would not consider him sure handed by any means. He does have great size and can be a capable blocker but many on BBI are overating this guy.
Does anyone know if Robinson was oft-injured in college?
Finley: I'd hate to have to default to him but there may not be a better choice for 1 year. I suppose you could try nut case Kellen Winslow too.
I haven't seen that reported anyplace else.
