fun quotes aside....

The guy doing this must be the biggest damned Coen Brothers fan around, because the show is just bursting with nods to their movies. BBT's character bears a definite resemblance to Anton Chigurh. The trainer boyfriend of Oliver Platt's wife bears a strong resemblence to Brad Pitt in Burn After Reading. The "missed a spot" wisecrack is lifted from Raising Arizona. Colin Hanks peeping on a hot Jewish neighbor in her skivvies calls to mind A Serious Man. Molly's talks with her dad are very similar to Ed Tom's talk with his uncle in No Country for Old Men. Platt's supermarket king brings to mind Big Dave from The Man Who Wasn't There. Etc, etc.
It's the little things like Larry at the strip club

BBT character may be closer to the hired killer in Blood Simple, but I get your point.

The Cohen Brothers are ex. producing it so...

show, they read a script and gave their blessing and took a Producer credit, that's the sum total of their involvement
Agree, Floyd...
Pete in CO : 4/25/2014 3:36 pm : link
...I sensed a familiarity w Blood Simple too. One of my all time favorite movies...
Love the writing so far. FX has some great series these days...

Exactly.
This show is like Sam Hess and the Cohen Bros. are Larry from the strip club.

being that you are a Hollywood guy involved in the business, you do know it's the Coen Bros not the Cohen Bros?
