He tore his ACL not that long ago. He will have to miss all next year and if I am the Giants I don't take him until the 5th. We have to many needs and holes to take a player that can't play at all. IF he falls to the 5th tough I would take him in a heart beat. 4th round there will still be plenty of talent available. Unfortunately I can see a team like SF GB or Jax who have a lot of extra picks taking him in the 4th.

This. You'd have to at least consider it in the fifth since we have two picks, but I do think he's going to go to a team with a lot of extra picks. Like SF did last year with Carradine and Lattimore. It might be something we'd consider more strongly if we trade down and get extra picks ourselves, but as it stands now, given all our other needs, I don't think it's realistic.
If the Giants are expecting a 4th rounder to come in and contribute right away they are in big trouble. It is not very often you can get a talent like Thomas in the 4th round.
He had to be downgraded a bit. Originally I had him in the 3rd round area but because of the injury, you have to wait until round 5 at the earliest. I really liked him the last two seasons, as he showed some good performance against top competition. I think he'll play guard in the NFL but he could play LT in emergency situations, which every team needs.
when he suggests that a stacked team like SF, that has a ton of picks, would likely take him earlier than we would want to.
As for 4th rounders who could give us production, TEs like Fiedorowicz and Lynch might contribute, as might a WR taken in the 4th or 5th (although the latter would have to fight his way over a bunch of other guys, hopefully one of them taken in the 1st 3 rounds).
The draft is not to be use for a sprint. You acquire superior talent when you are able to get it. Based on his new medicals I can't see him going lowered early 5th. I don't expect picks after round 1 to contribute right away.
It also allows you evaluate Beatty and your line. See if any of your FAs pickups are worth a damn. See if Snee can regain form. If you want to move Pugh.
I am so against drafting a WR early for the sake of saying hey went took another WR early. Two years from now fans will be looking to move on from this year WR.
BPA and everything but can we give some of these young prospects a real shot? Before the season was over it was about the lines, now it is about WR?
would you sit out a year unsigned and re-enter the draft next season to raise your stock?
His stock won't be any higher after sitting out a year, and it's not like he'll get a huge deal if he went in the 3rd round next year vs the 4th/5ht his year.. He would also be missing out on a year's salary, the chance to rehab at a professional facility on their dime for a year, and would not be any closer to his 2nd contract (where he's a year closer if he's drafted this year).
So, there's not a chance in hell I would sit out a year and neither will he.
