ICYMI Pineda will have an MRI on a lat muscle...
Dunedin81 : 4/29/2014 6:30 pm : link
that gave him problems during his side session today.
really really hope
RasputinPrime : 4/29/2014 6:45 pm : link
the Pineda injury is of the Andy Pettitte variety. We can't afford to lose him for any stretch.
Overwhelmingly booed
jcn56 : 4/29/2014 7:13 pm : link
Not surprised. Disappointed, not surprised.
People around the country think Yankees fans are morons.
Shockeyisthebest80 : 4/29/2014 7:16 pm : link
Now they have the confirmation. Booing a guy who put up Hall of Fame numbers and played every damn day makes no sense at all.
I actually enjoyed that. He left us.
kmed : 4/29/2014 7:17 pm : link
I get why, I don't blame him, but don't blame us when we don't cheat for you on another team. If you ain't with us, you're against us. Didn't think I'd enjoy it, but I did.
In the past decade I've come to loathe most Yankees fans
Greg from LI : 4/29/2014 7:18 pm : link
.
Then most fanbases are morons
Exit 172 : 4/29/2014 7:18 pm : link
because most fanbases have done the same at some point.
Bleacher creatures fooled cano.
kmed : 4/29/2014 7:19 pm : link
He thought they were showing him respect, then they say "you sold out", lol.
agree with kmed
sinctybldh : 4/29/2014 7:21 pm : link
i am bitter against cano. yes he has absolutely every right to take the money. However, i think the yankees made MORE then a fair contract for him and it was an offer I felt comfortable with. he left for 3 extra years which he could have got from the Yankees had he stayed productive during the 7 years offered. He got the money, but it is a decision he will regret. From the Yankees side there is no regret at all. He also said the Yankees disrepected him. Bullshit. He deserves to be booed.

What bullshit. Look, I've been ridiculing the booing all week, leading up. I think booing is lame. But to suggest that Yankee fans are the only ones that would boo a returning player is absolute horseshit. Have you paid attention when former Red Sox return to Boston? How about Seattle and Texas when ARod would go back there? This notion that Yankee fans are any different than the rest is a joke. Give me a break
So does Ellsbury have another boo-boo?
Greg from LI : 4/29/2014 7:24 pm : link
The $150 Million Man of Glass.
I wish I could be there with my Canoe is a Trader! sign
Dunedin81 : 4/29/2014 7:25 pm : link
...
remember if not for the glass man
sinctybldh : 4/29/2014 7:25 pm : link
yankees wouldn't be in first.
I'm not bitter because he made
kmed : 4/29/2014 7:25 pm : link
a business decision that I may have made. That being said, he can't have the money and Yankee legacy. He took the money and lost everything that goes into being one of ours. Again, can't fault him, he made a business decision, but you're the enemy now.
not sure why u have venom
sinctybldh : 4/29/2014 7:26 pm : link
for a player that has helped the yankees win games. he is the last person you should be mouthing off against.
I've been trying to muster up
Danny Kanell : 4/29/2014 7:27 pm : link
a feeling on Cano's return one way or another but I honestly don't care. He was a great player for us but he took the biggest contract and moved on. He's a thing of the past as far as I'm concerned. This was a great player that I never truly warmed up to.
because I never wanted the sonofabitch on the team
Greg from LI : 4/29/2014 7:30 pm : link
Unless it's a truly great player like a Pedro or a Manny, I don't want overpaid Sawx scum on my team.

And no, I never liked having Clemens either and was relieved when he left.
Amazing how quiet Greg is
BigBlueShock : 4/29/2014 7:30 pm : link
when Ellsbury is tearing it up.

Again, we get it. You don't like Ellsbury. And it never fails, when he misses a game or makes a base running error, you're right there to throw his contract numbers around. Nobody gives a shit dude. Move on. Please? Don't do this all year, man. We all know you will, but please, don't.
what about
sinctybldh : 4/29/2014 7:31 pm : link
wade boggs?
you may not have wanted him on the team
sinctybldh : 4/29/2014 7:33 pm : link
but he is now on the team. You should always support that player unless they absolutely suck like am Igawa, Tony Womack or Heredia that add nothing to the team. Ellsbury may not deserve the contract, but the Yankees offered it. He has to this point out played most everyone's expectations. What more do you want from him?
YES!
sinctybldh : 4/29/2014 7:35 pm : link
TEIX!
Teix!
BigBlueShock : 4/29/2014 7:35 pm : link
Oh boy, do we need him to keep doing that
3 home runs in limited plate appearances
sinctybldh : 4/29/2014 7:36 pm : link
is very encouraging so far for Teix.
Dumb to boo an ex-Yankee,
Exit 172 : 4/29/2014 7:37 pm : link
cool to hate a current Yankee.

Do I have that right?
so if ellsbury leaves the yankees
sinctybldh : 4/29/2014 7:39 pm : link
for another team and he gets booed then its dumb. lol
U see that woman take Ichiros liner

was strike 3!
booing
MookGiants : 4/29/2014 7:52 pm : link
Cano makes absolutely no sense. They don't have to cheer or boo, they can sit there and do what they do for every other player in the Mariners lineup, be completely indifferent. He gave a lot to this organization, came up through the minors, and was as durable a player as the Yanks have had. He showed up and played every day and played well.

People booing him should be slapped upside the head.

And the idea that the Yankees made a competitive offer when it was 60 million and 3 years less is bullshit
ManBan in Trenton
Dunedin81 : 4/29/2014 7:52 pm : link
3 IP 2 H 0 R 0 BB 4 Ks.

Good stuff.
7 year 180/190 year
sinctybldh : 4/29/2014 7:56 pm : link
contract is not competitive? are u crazy? how many players get contracts like that?
man ban terrible
sinctybldh : 4/29/2014 7:57 pm : link
gave up 2 hits. :P
no
MookGiants : 4/29/2014 7:58 pm : link
it's not competitive when he got 10/240. Your definition of competitive is way off.

what is with man ban
sinctybldh : 4/29/2014 7:58 pm : link
only getting 3 innings per outing? I would think they would want to gradually increase him, no?
and it doesnt make
MookGiants : 4/29/2014 7:59 pm : link
a difference how many players get a contract like that.

Competitive is relative. If the offer from the Mariners was 7/195-200, then it would have been a competitive offer.
so in order for it to be competitive it had to be 10 years?
sinctybldh : 4/29/2014 7:59 pm : link
that is crazy.
we differ in opinion
sinctybldh : 4/29/2014 8:01 pm : link
to me yankees contract to cano was fair.
not 10 years
MookGiants : 4/29/2014 8:04 pm : link
but it's not a competitive offer when its 7. 3 years is a big fucking deal. He would have stayed if the Yankees made a competitive offer, they didn't. I don't blame them for not upping their offer, but I also don't blame Cano at all for taking the Mariners offer, it was a no brainer to take.
I think
MookGiants : 4/29/2014 8:05 pm : link
their offer was fair too. But definitely not competitive. Mariners way overpaid
Not sure what the rules are...
Dunedin81 : 4/29/2014 8:21 pm : link
might be part easing in, part innings control. Sooner or later he'll be at 5 or 6 IP.
its painful
MookGiants : 4/29/2014 8:45 pm : link
to watch CC out there with garbage stuff game after game, 90 pitches and 4 runs through 4 2/3 against this garbage lineup.

Where's jerseyjoe to tell us he looks like his old self again and absolutely has reinvented himself like Mussina did.

Oh thats right he's banned
CC
MookGiants : 4/29/2014 8:46 pm : link
is finished being a top starter in this league.
Did Flaherty really just say

How is this offense unable to score more than 2 runs
Kulish29 : 4/29/2014 9:04 pm : link
off of garbage like Chris Young?
Charleston pitcher Brady Lail with an absolute gem...

great job by Betances. CC gives up 9 hits in 5 innings to a pathetic lineup. At this point you have to just hope he can eat innings and be a solid #4, because his stuff truly sucks. 89 mph fastball with an 83 mph changeup is fucking garbage
Stretching out Betances?
Dave in PA : 4/29/2014 9:33 pm : link
.
I never expected CC
beatrixkiddo : 4/29/2014 9:50 pm : link
to decline so drastically.

I always figured he'd slowly wear down, but he really just fell off from being a solid #1 too a #3-#4 guy rather rapidly. Really disappointing.

It sucks they lost Nova to injury. I hope Pineada can hold up, He, Tanaka, and Nova going into the future are a pretty solid group. I still think they are a pitcher or two away, and they need something promising to come up as far as infielders go. I think they will likely shop some OF, which they seem to have stacked for an IF.
3 hits

Against a guy that was out of baseball last year. This Yankee offense fucking sucks., how do you get shut down by this fucking bum Chris young embarrassing
four hits in six innings against Chris Young
