from everything I’ve been told from various sources inside and outside the Giants’ organization, this is likely to be an offensive themed draft for the Giants. And from several sources familiar with the Giants’ draft plans, I’m told they will almost certainly take an offensive player with the 12th overall pick in the draft. . . . . But they love Lewan, and aren’t afraid of the “red flags” on his character, and for a while they were pretty sure that he’d be there, too. Now, they’re not so sure . . . . One is North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron, who would obviously fill a glaring hole on the Giants’ roster. But from what I’ve been told, the Giants have absolutely no interest in him. In fact, one source told me there’s “no chance” they take him in the first round. I don’t know if that’s because they don’t like the player or just don’t think it’s worth taking a tight end in Round 1, or if they think they have viable options on their current roster. Probably it’s a combination of all of that. Regardless, he does not appear to be in the mix at all, and I will be blown away if they take him at 12. . . . . I’ve never gotten the sense that the Giants love Martin, just that they really like him. That could be an important distinction that high in the draft. Maybe if they were picking a little lower in the first round he’d be their choice. But I don’t believe they think Martin is quite as good as Lewan. I also think there’s a strong sentiment in the draft room that they really need to get a player that can actually have an impact right now. The theme of this draft is to get help for Eli Manning and they don’t want to sit around and wait for a player to develop. That’s why I think that if the Giants, as expected, can’t get Evans or Lewan there choice is going to be Odell Beckham Jr., the 5-11, 198-pound receiver from LSU. |
That does seem a little strange, but maybe there's a leak, whether on purpose or not.
Anyway, since the WR class is so deep I'd much rather wait until 43 and grab the OL at 12.
Because BBI isn't the NYG scouting department?
No, he can play the outside. And would with them.
Who, Beckham?
There are a LOT of guys in the draft that haven't been discussed here. If you just went by the front page, you'd think there are only 4 offensive linemen in the entire draft and there's nobody after them that can help the team
Odell Beckham is very clearly the 3-4th best WR in the draft. I think he and Lee are equally well regarded, with Beckham not having the health concerns.
No, Tank Carradine.
Martin can play any position on the line, can take over when Snee inevitably falls on his face, or play tackle if Beatty isn't ready and/or continues to suck.
What the Giants know or do is separate from the opinions on this board, even if it ultimately coincides, the point here is about Corner Forum and media discussion and it was rarely in the mindsets of fans and media until a week ago..

He was always on the board as a good player, but the board moves around. At one point not long ago Kelvin Benjamin was a 1st round pick. Now nobody's talking about him. Beckham had an especially good combine that helped his stock. Cooks has skyrocketed as well.
No. Much better hands and routes.

remind anyone else of Mario Manningham?
No. Much better hands and routes.
Completely disagree.
No, not at all. Faster, more explosive, better hands.
Barely.
I think the only one of the "big 4" OL's that could fall to us at this pt is Martin but I hope he does and I hope we take him. Sounds like Lewan could jump into the top 10 now along with Robinson and Matthews.

ODB is a much better prospect than Manningham was. Manningham could barely run a fade route.
I will also say, I've never seen this kid really play either.
I'd rather build on either side of the LOS, that's what made us so good from 2006-2010.
I wouldn't be upset with Beckham though. He's a baller.

How many times did Manningham catch the fade for a TD for us? I personally saw him do it in Foxboro right in front of me.
I don't know how he is now after the knee, but Manningham could play.
He was a terrific third WR..............and when pressed into action as a starter in 2010, did very, very well.
Manningham fell in his draft class, and was a terrific pick by Reese.
