NY Giants 6th Round Pick: CB Bennett Jackson, Notre Dame

He looks to have CB athletic ability, isn't huge and isn't know as a great tackler.

"BOTTOM LINE Looks the part and has developmental value given his athleticism and desirable makeup, but did not take a significant step forward as a senior. Has traits to contribute initially on special teams while he works on becoming a more well-rounded cornerback."

Well the Practice Squad needs a captain, too. I'm guessing that is where he will be in the absence of a host of injuries.

I never said they were going to beat out Hill. But if the Giants do cut bait, or IR Hill, which certainly remains a possibility at this point, their odds of making the roster shoot up astronomically.

I also highly doubt the Giants would use a 5th rounder on a guy who is immediately in a fight for a roster spot. Not with so many other needs.

IF Hill's not available or gone, then Behre has a shot to be the backup otherwise he's got to knock Taylor off the roster to be #5.

We're loaded at CB, BJ's hill is steeper yet regardless of position. Practice squad candidate, I'd wager. Perhaps both will be.

I think they are waiting for the appeal process.

They don't have to initially. Chances are Hill won't be on the roster for the first part of the season, so one of them could stick for the first 8 games as cover then get put on the practice squad (it tends to be a bit easier to stash during the season)

I'm not calling it a win. The situation with Hill sucks ass. But how long do the Giants play this game with him?

do go and try and count on Hill next season, a guy who three years running could not be counted on? I don't know how many more chances the Giants are going to give him.

The whole reason we were able to get him in the first place was because of his reputation as a fuck up. A reputation he is proving to be true.

in terms of not being flexible with his pattern of mistakes. But, the team's clearly showing more patience up to this point with no indication of reversing course as yet.

I'm not sure how many of these last 3 will make the team, but if one of them make it, I guess that's beating the odds.

It's impossible to tell how the WH process will play out. But again, I have a very hard time seeing the Giants pick a guy who probably won't make the roster when there are roster spots to be won at other places. Namely TE and OL.

it's an uphill climb for DBs. Let's re-visit in August.

Safety is only a settled position for this season. Rolle is up for a contract. Hill might miss games or not, but giving him a long term deal is a BIG question. Who knows about Stevie.

I have never read a scouting report that said a player was "too strong."

Ranked him 139 out of his top 300 and said he could play safety as well. Said he has a strong Postseason and excellent Pro Day. Sounds like good value in the 6th round.

I can't say I would've drafted him and I'm bullish on most ND players.

learning a position needs to really struggle(after a little initial success ) before he starts to understand.
He does have good measurables , sixth round is a good place to take a flyer on him.
