Connor Hughes OTA Updates (No. 2)

Connor_Hughes : 6/2/2014 6:53 pm
Fans,

This coming Thursday the Giants will open their doors for the media to observe the team's organized team activities. As was the case last week, BBI will be represented.

Last week, we asked you what you wanted us to observe during practice. At the conclusion of our practice report, we answered those questions :

http://www.bigblueinteractive.com/2014/05/29/new-york-giants-ota-day-2-quick-hits-tidbits/

Once again, we'd like to make this as hands-on with the fans as possible. Have a question you want answered? An observation you're curious about? Let us know and we'll do our best to observe and then respond.

Connor's 2nd OTA Practice Report - ( New Window )
I'd like to know
Sneakers O'toole : 6/2/2014 7:06 pm : link
how comfortable Eli looks on his feet after coming off the ankle thing. I know he was taking snaps, a lot of short throws apparently. I'd like to know if he looks comfortable planting and driving the way a QB must to deliver a ball with power.

Although the fact that they already released Freeman may tell us what we need to know there
Thanks Connor.

Can you please follow up on that ambiguous comment by Coughlin last week on when the Giants feel Will Beatty would be ready to go. He commented "the fall" which could mean anything.

While injury rehab is not an exact science, when do the Giants expect him to be ready to start practicing/playing with the first team?

please
blue42 : 6/2/2014 7:24 pm : link
detail how Andre Williams is doing catching the ball and if the screen pass is still a W.I.P.
Wasn't it Eli's left ankle??
The Natural : 6/2/2014 7:42 pm : link
So that wouldn't be his plant foot which is good. Granted he still has to step into the throw, but the left ankle will have much less stress.
to complete the throw
Sneakers O'toole : 6/2/2014 7:50 pm : link
he would have to shift his weight to that ankle as he throws. If it was his left ankle, I actually am not sure which ankle it was. I think it was left.
nothing specific . . .

Hynoski, or Connor?
It;s nice that we can finally hear the questions

but what the heck is that chattering noise in the background? RV still using a typewriter?
Performance of the backups at safety
WeatherMan : 6/2/2014 9:16 pm : link
Rolle is a given and with Hill gone Brown is highly likely to step back in next to him, but the team likes to run a lot of 3 safety looks. So, what are the early returns on Demps, Berhe, and Taylor? Also, are they showing more 4 CB alignments with the newly acquired quality depth at the position?
Cooper Taylor is now in the limelight
KeoweeFan : 6/2/2014 9:21 pm : link
since the Will Hill affair. Cooper has fascinating potential, 6'5, 228#, sub 4.5 speed coming out of Richmond (and was compared to Kam Chancellor). He was a freshman starter at GT prior to the diagnosis of a heart syndrome (presumably now cleared). Perfect for the Dion Grant (6' 2, 215) position that Perry loves.
Is he showing any progress this year that would justify the gamble Reese took hoping he would get back on track from his spectacular GT days ("a hidden gem" per Mark Ross)?
Probably a given, but see if you can get any quotes from players about

Will Hill situation.
how does the team feel about

I think Cooper and Will Hill have nothing to do with each other. Hill is a Free Safety Taylor is a Strong Safety.

We have to hope Behre has something.

The traditional labels don't really apply here. Rolle's played Free and Strong. Hill's played Free and Strong. Seems like Fewell expects his players to be interchangable.
Secondary

The strongest position on paper for the team is CB. As opposed to the 3 safety look, are there any signs or indications that the 3 CB / 2 LB package will be used more often?

Also, how are the rookie linebackers fairing?
Chris Snee
ATL_Giant : 6/3/2014 8:25 am : link
Please let us know if Snee looks healthy. Is he practicing fully? Is there any indication of where his performance level may be at the start of the season?
First of all Thank you

How does Eli like the new offensive scheme in comparison to what he had been running and does he think the new offense will produce?

Also how is JPP feeling/looking?
Specific question about Beatty
NYDCBlue : 6/3/2014 9:24 am : link
There is a running line of argument here on BBI that Beatty suffered damage to his knee as well as leg. Can you specifically ask him about the condition of his knee in relation to the injury he suffered last season?

If he clears it up that there was no damage it may alleviate a lot of heartburn around here regarding his availability for the start of the season.
Beatty
OTIS70 : 6/3/2014 9:38 am : link
is by far the biggest question mark on this team....I agree that this is a big question that needs clarity, but I'm not sure you will get any real answer. They have their guard up for good reason....Maybe ask what kind of rehab is Beatty doing now. If he's squatting, I think that would be a really good sign.

Thanks Connor

I'd like to know who (either by your observation or what you've heard) is demonstrating accelerated development (esp Robinson, Nassib etc).

After TE, my biggest concerns are the OLB's, specifically Jacquain Williams. Have the lights finally come on for this young guy?

Any idea if you will have access to coaching staff?

The way that it has been run thus far is the team has practice, then everyone waits out on the podium and players are brought out to the media. As far as coaching, so far Coughlin is the only one that has been made available to the media. My guess is within the coming weeks then send out coordinators.

Minicamp is the first time reporters are allowed in the locker room to have a free-for-all for whom they want to talk to.
Thanks Connor
bc4life : 6/3/2014 5:42 pm : link
The reason I ask was that I had a few questions for the OLine coach.

If you get a chance maybe you can ask Brown if he has any insights as to why he struggled with his former team and if he thinks the problems are fixable or what is he doing to address those issues.

Obviously the question could be framed better, but, I think you see what I was looking for.
