NYG LB Jon Beason has sesamoid fracture in right foot. Surgery required. Expected 12 week recovery, according to someone aware of diagnosis.
with all of the lateral movement and burst with his size frame...he'll be lucky to be back by week 4. If he comes back early, he'll be VERY lucky not to reinjure himself.

NYG amazed Eli Manning returned so quickly after Dr. Robert Anderson performed surgery. Different injury but they hope for same from Beason.
think they will PUP him. As someone said, he can't even practice, so he won't be in any type of condition to start playing week two or three. Not after missing all of camp. The extra four weeks will also given his foot additional time to heal. He can then come back midseason.
the real question is whether he'll be on it in the regular season - if the 12 week timeline is accurate he will not be, as that would require missing the first 6 weeks of the season. As such, even if he'll miss week 1 or 2, he'll be activated off of the PUP list prior to week 1 if his recovery is proceeding on schedule.

It's a positive Beason played in defense last year and no significant changes. Mind won't be behind, just body. #Giants #NYG
12 weeks from today is Sept. 5. Giants open season in 12 weeks and three days on Sept. 8.
Probably miss week 1 and possibly week 2 depending on how he heals..

3 month recovery means 3 days before game 1...he probably misses game 1 and possibly game 2 at the most...

it seems every year the very first practice of Giants season - a player goes down from no contact with serious injury
Hopefully this means he will be strong and fresh a couple weeks into the season and get to see Jon Beaston elevate the defense again!
Go Giants, and I wish you a speedy recovery Mr. Beason

Seriously? sean lee says hi, sean witherspoon of the falcons says hi,
Could be a lot worse...
Since I believe you were a foot doc, can you please explain why this kinda break is deserving of good news or did I miss some sarcasm?

Go ask Sean Weatherspoon, he was running alongside the trainers when he ruptured his achilles.
Beason is not going to miss half the season...
For some reason I dont remember it this bad in the 80s when i started as a fan.

at least you would have a player who could man the middle for half a season or so.
Beason is not going to miss half the season...
Well we don't really KNOW that, now do we?

Agreed. We should just break the rest of his bones now so we've got him in better shape in 12 weeks.
Can't say I'm shocked that Beason is injured. He basically missed his final 2 years with the Panthers, which is a big reason why they traded him.
I hope he comes back soon, but I still think he's insanely overrated

This sucks
Paysinger and Williams OLB
The Giants specifically said it was the bottom of foot. Didn't they? That would rule both of those out, no?
