Get sense Mathias Kiwanuka knows he'll be at LB some w/ Beason out. "If challenge is presented, I'll take it on so we can get better" #NYG
Unless Beatty gets healthy himself and bounces back, both RG and LT are going to be massive problems for this team (along with their starting LG being a better RG and their likely probable C being a mixed bag even when not considering how he hasn't played in years now).
More hysteria on the OL. If Snee can't go them Mosley will. Don't see the issue. Mosley may beat out Snee straight up much less if Snee isn't healthy. And Jerry will be in the mix at by traning cmp as well. Beatty is an issue but they have guys at RG.

Chris Snee: "No need to rush back. My lower body feels great. I'm sure you guys were watching me run out there. I'm moving pretty well" #NYG
My point the entire offseason once they signed Snee to a 1 year contract was that if healthy he was young enough to still perform at a high level, if, a big if, he truly wasn't in decline talent-wise. That it was all about health..
His Elbow issue iirc, has been ongoing for a few years. I have little hope that he'll heal enough to perform as he did during 2011 and before..
It's not like the Giants are heavily relying on him.
If he can get back to near 100% it's a huge plus for this team. If not, it's an open competition and he could end up as a backup.
I am a Snee fan and hoping he can come back strong but if not, we have options in Mosley, John Jerry, and Walton/Westburg (whoever doesn't start at Center).
I think him firing out of the gates made everyone forget that not long ago we were hoping he'd be a good back up for us this year. Everyone upgraded him to starter so then when he has ass-aches, everyone is concerned about him more than they should be.
The guy has been cooked for two years. He was great in his time, but that time has passed.
Which is why he took a massive paycut. If he is still "cooked" by the end of training camp, a younger and better option will take his job.
He can't even make it through non-contact OTAs. Do you really think he's going to be good-to-go in another five weeks? And even if he is, do you think he can stand up to the rigors of a 16-game season? Younger options are already replacing him. They may not be better than Snee in his prime, but they're better than he is now.

I'm not sure what you mean by "preaching", I'm just stating the facts. You and others act as if the Giants are taking some sort of "risk" with Snee.
What facts? He took a paycut? Big deal. It's not like he's been playing for minimum wage the past ten years. He's lucky he wasn't cut, period. And when you say "stop complaining," to me that's preaching.
Quote:
This is a low-risk, high-reward situation for the Giants. We should all be pulling for Snee to be at full strength come August.
We should all be pulling for world peace, too. Good luck with that.
It's a waste of time and resources. We've seen this same scenario play out for the past two years. He was terribly ineffective throughout the 2012 season (his Pro Bowl honor notwithstanding), and he was shut down after three games in 2013. He's simply not the player he used to be.
"Time is a predator that stalks us all," and it has its beady little eyes on Chris Snee.
Bah, where? All he's done is changed positions every year as asked and said he'd do it again.
@ConorTOrr
Kiwanuka "very angry, very upset" w/ #Giants after forcing him into paycut, thinks more needs to be done for players http://s.nj.com/uLeOMkb
Good, maybe if he plays angry he might have an impact on a game for the first time ever.
Wrong! In 2006 he did indeed have an impact, so let's not exaggerate..He was good enough to let go of Vince Young from, what would have been, effectively, a game-ending winning sack..
Chronic elbow problem - The elbow will definitely get tested during training camp, especially preseason games. I wince every time I think about a guy having a bum elbow and has to deal with a DL attacking the joint with a rip move.
Time will tell if his body will hold up. I'm a big Snee fan but I have my doubts.
This could end several ways. He could end up quality depth, he may very well walk away if it doesn't look good. A big part of this last hurrah was that he wanted to go out on his own terms. I wouldn't be shocked if things went south that he takes the initiative and says enough is enough.
Who would want a contract that one party can void? He needed to take a cut because he isn't worth that level of compensation, still I cans see his point
He was a very much above average all around DE that year. It's not 2008 anymore though and hasn't been, in terms of his play quality for a long time -- even dating back to the SB run, he was pretty much a non-entity, with decreasing snaps and performance when he got them.
Also, people who think Snee isn't going to be starting on this team (so long as he can force him up for the game, even if not to actually play well or practice very often) are severely fooling themselves. Pay cut for this season or not, we just sat through this type of thing with Diehl for years; the HC's SIL isn't going to receive "lesser" treatment than he did.
Kiwi has been grossly overpaid since Reese gave him a big extension
...before the 2012 season. He got $10 million guaranteed on that deal, and has played like a vet minimum. (Horrible move by Reese extending him, BTW).
He's been a stand up guy, but he's played poorly since he ruptured a disc in his neck in 2010. He really should consider himself lucky to be on a team at all.
has a right to be angry. He is not upset with the Giants as much as he is upset with the system, in that contracts under the NFL CBA favor the teams more than the players.
I wouldn't read to much into this. If anything it's going to make him want to prove something this year, which he'll have to.
and am not saying it's wrong to have doubts with Snee.
The Giants are taking the right approach by not rushing him back so he is as healthy as possible come training camp. If he is not the best option at guard come September, he will be a backup or the Giants may decide to part ways with him (if he doesn't do so himself).
But to act as if he is somehow hurting the team is insane. Why wouldn't you hope for a healthy Chris Snee, even if he is not the Pro Bowl player he once was.
look the part last year, unlike Brewer, who just might end up on the cutting floor. This is Mosely's third year and he just might be ready to hit his stride. He came to the Giants with upside, but development needed. I think he's ready to take that next step and we could be pleasantly surprised this year. If Snee does not win the starting job, I think he'll still stay around as depth and a veteran presence to assist the line. I think that's still a win-win.
Or LG depending upon where Schwartz is better off.
NYGmen - i think we are all pulling for Snee but there is a piece of me that still questions what is going on here. I applaud Snee's effort but are the Giants hanging onto some unlikely dream he makes it? Are they giving him every chance possible but really don't expect it so Mosley/Jerry already know they are fighting for the RG job? I would hope the coaches know best but this is a "touchy" situation that seems to just need a resolve....you know?
Yeah, and I saw Michael Strahan hit Dante Culpepper square and just bounce off. Difference was Strahan hadn't just gotten a 15 yard penalty. Kiwanuka thought he heard the whistle and there probably should have been one.

Ray Nitschke wore #66.

if you are given number 63 as a linebacker the chances of making the team are zero point zero
Ray Nitschke wore #66.
Nitschke retired after the 1972 season. The NFL position numbering scheme started in 1973.

McClain - may not be Beason but at least knows the position
Kennard - rose right up the depth chart and its not even July. Herzlich may be an early cut.

Not great options but still a contingency plan.
