When he took his first snap as a rookie, I had just started kindergarten. When he walked off the field for the last time, I was a high school senior. Lawrence Taylor WAS football for me. I had never known football without him. When he (and Simms)retired, it was like the Giants were folding as a team. It was very hard to accept that no longer would the best defensive player who ever lived be on my team.
The niners were the 00s pats and 70s cowboys all rolled into one and then some. Montana was a living legend who never lost in a big spot. No salary cap no depth issues--- those niner teams were legendary. They took shits that were better than those pats teams. Not trying to bash the pats but the 80s era just lent itself to deeper and more talented teams. For the Giants to walk into the stick and beat that team -- just heroic. I'm proud of every NYG championship team and the 07 run was disgustingly dramatic and awesome but the 90 giants were special. They took down titans in that postseason.
If I had to guess, it's a custom made one by the guy linked below. He's been on BBI once or twice in the past with pics of some of his Giants figures. Link - ( New Window )
The one thing I think a lot of people forget (or just plain don't know) was how good those Niners were on defense as well as offense. We all know the Giants were the #1 defense in football that year, but #2 was SF. Montana was 9-1 at Candlestick in the playoffs coming into that game. The Niners were two-time defending champs. They got off to a slow 6-5 start in 1988. From that point until the 1990 NFC title game, they won 39 of their next 44 games, including two Super Bowls. That was an incredible football team.
First time I went to Giants Stadium, he ran for 200 yds and 3 TDs against the Steelers in 85
Was that the game where he lost his shoe on a long TD run? I remember watching that Steelers game, it was a Saturday game in December and we decorated our Christmas tree while watching the game.

He died in 83, but I think he retired in 81.
