Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Ranked Seventh-Best Cover Corner - ( New Window )
He's
dorgan : 7/14/2014 2:07 pm : link
pretty damned good when his head is in the game.

Every person I've ever talked to that has some insight into him, thinks he was immature when he came in the league and has since grown up. We might have made a great signing.

Or not.

We'll see.
I don't believe in ranking football players across the league.

I believe a football player can really only be compared to his teammates at the same position, since they're in the same system for the same coaches, are surrounded by the same teammates, play in the same conditions, etc.

If Cromartie is a great fit and makes a positive impact on the Giants defense, I'll be happy. As for how he may or may not compare to cornerbacks on other teams, I'll leave that for sports radio stations and websites to ramble on about.
He never really impressed me.

But now he is in Giant blue, so that #7 is an INSULT!
he's the most

athletic Defensive Back we've had since Sehorn
dorgan, while everyone bemoans

the D-line, I wonder if they will now have that extra half second to get there now that we have some solid guys in the backfield? Whether or not DRC is 7th best, he's still damned good and a solid and big upgrade. And along with Thurmond...
randy is right about thurmond
area junc : 7/14/2014 3:16 pm : link
massive upgrade from t2 last year
he needs to play engaged mentally in the game
JonC : 7/14/2014 3:27 pm : link
be willing to stick his nose there and tackle, and do these things with consistency.
DRC, Prince, Thurmond and Rolle

out there. That's about as much individual talent as I can ever remember having in the Giant secondary.

I hope we can muster up some D-line pressure and let these guys live up to their potential...

Imagine if Will Hill
mattnyg05 : 7/14/2014 6:19 pm : link
straightened out? You'd have a top 3 secondary in the league. And you're still pretty close to that anyway barring injury.
I consider his down years with the Eagles more of an aberration.
Torn Tendon : 7/14/2014 8:36 pm : link
Most of the players on those Eagle defenses underachieved. Even killed Namdi's career. I think it's a great sign that he got back to form in Denver.

Like when Rolle first arrived, there were concerns but I think he'll turn out to be a great addition.

No use even thinking about it. He's in the rear view mirror, and a full season was never a possibility with him.
While Hill will be missed...

...who isn't curious to see if the Stevie Brown interception machine wasn't a one-season fluke?

Agree with the sentiment here - I've been a fan since Carter was President - hands-down, most talented group of CB's this team has fielded in my years. And FWIW, I prefer great CB's over great DE's.
There's been a lot of good talk
snumber6 : 7/15/2014 8:56 am : link
from the coaches about him in OTAs ... granted they are OTAs but some comments were made suggesting the Giants will put in some defensive coverages taking advantage of his press coverage abilities that we've not been able to do before ...

and as Dorgan says ...

or not ...

Put Will Hill the column with R*y H*ndl*y
Curtis in VA : 7/15/2014 8:58 am : link
as those names that should never be mentioned
this gives Fewell

the ability to blitz more.
Unfortunately the way our guys blitz
Jimmy Googs : 7/15/2014 1:46 pm : link
that is not a good thing...
