Jay Glazer Will Induct Michael Strahan Into Hall of Fame - ( New Window )
Did Strahan lose a bet?
TheManUpstairs : 7/17/2014 1:11 pm : link
I got nothin'.
He asked Tiki
NY Blue : 7/17/2014 1:23 pm : link
But he was busy
Was reading an article in a reception area about MS and his net worth.
Big Blue '56 : 7/17/2014 1:24 pm : link
It's 45 million which comes from his million plus yearly salary hosting LIVE with Kelly and Michael, Good Morning America and Fox NFL Sunday..

Other tidbits:

-Only 30 NFL players have recorded 100(official) sacks in their careers-Mike is ranked 5th all-time(141.5)

-He beat out 58 other competitors for the guest host gig with Kelly

Should read $20 million plus yearly salary

guess

Warren Sapp was busy too
Ridiculous choice, but not surprised at all.
bceagle05 : 7/17/2014 1:39 pm : link
You have a stage full of NFL legends behind you, and you cheapen the moment by having some jackass meathead induct you.

Stray has a habit of doing things like this. Remember his interview during the trophy presentation right after SB42? Guy waits 15 years to get there, and the first public comment he makes is to trash the media. Followed by his "stomp you out" crap at City Hall after the parade a few days later. Doesn't exactly rise to the occasion.
Glazer has been one of his best friends for years.
Motley Blue : 7/17/2014 1:43 pm : link
It's not a surprising choice.

Strahan does stay busy though. I saw a commercial where he's hosting a kid's award show on Nickelodeon.
It's the Subway connection.
giantsfaninphilly : 7/17/2014 1:46 pm : link
Eat Fresh.
he rose to the occasion for 15 years
JOMO25 : 7/17/2014 1:46 pm : link
have a little respect
Glazer
old man : 7/17/2014 1:51 pm : link
have some kind of tie-in w/Disney-ESPN-ABC that that Master Marketing Mouse-y company was trying to take advantage of?
I would have thought maybe he'd have TC do it, since we've all seen the story about the early years, then the turnaround. And it's not like TC is not going to be in the neighborhood that weekend.
I somehow just lost a little respect for Mr Strahan.
It's his moment....
The Natural : 7/17/2014 2:01 pm : link
He chose who he wanted.

So you lost a little respect for him, or he didn't rise up to the occasion enough for you.. Boo hoo....I'm sure he gives a fuck.

He played all those years at a Hall of Fame level, and was Captain of my favorite team!!

Screw you guys.

I got.. Nothing

Yeah it's his moment, I'm not losing sleep over it.
bceagle05 : 7/17/2014 2:23 pm : link
But it's still quite lame. Peyton Manning is friends with Jim Nantz, but it'd be ridiculous for Jim Nantz to induct him into the HOF. This is the highest honor in pro sports, not Friday night at Just Jake's in Montclair.
Honestly...
rptl530 : 7/17/2014 2:36 pm : link
I was hoping it was going to be TC.

Not surprised by the choice, but I wanted TC to do it.
I thought we already knew this?
ZogZerg : 7/17/2014 2:41 pm : link
I could swear this was mentioned when Strahan was voted into the Hall.
Somebody had a problem with the Stomp You Out speech?
MetsAreBack : 7/17/2014 2:53 pm : link

The fuck?
Rptl and ZZ,
Big Blue '56 : 7/17/2014 2:53 pm : link
yes to both
I have no idea why anyone would have a problem with this
Ten Ton Hammer : 7/17/2014 2:58 pm : link
And the Peyton to Jim Nantz comparison is odd.

Maybe, just maybe, Strahan and Glazer are actually friends, while Peyton and Nantz are just work-friends. We don't know the relationship. For all anyone knows, Glazer could be godfather to his kids.
Would Tom Brady and Jim Nantz
Exit 172 : 7/17/2014 3:02 pm : link
be the better comparison?
Jay is his best friend...
Kevin(formerly Tiki4Six) : 7/17/2014 3:11 pm : link
Michael was his best man ... not shocked at all..
I thought it was a bit odd until I read more
Matt M. : 7/17/2014 3:18 pm : link
and saw some interviews and videos. The two are actually best friends and Glazer is in the business.

On a side, I never understood how Glazer had a meteoric rise to fame on the national level being a mediocre beat writer and not even a columnist. But, for whatever reason he did and he and Strahan are very close.
I thought everyone knew Glazer is his best friend

I knew they were friends, but thought it was mostly contrived for TV. I see they really are tight.
why is anyone that surprised?
mfsd : 7/17/2014 3:42 pm : link
Strahan and Glazer have been tight for years. Glazer wrote his book for him

He's one of Strahan's best friends but I guess he's supposed to pick someone he doesn't like or respect that you will. You should email him. I'm sure he he will change his mind as soon as he hears from you.
So was MS the source for many of Glazer's
montanagiant : 7/17/2014 4:19 pm : link
"Scoops"?
He said this like 2 to 3 years ago
BigBlueDownTheShore : 7/17/2014 4:59 pm : link
He said jay has been one of his best friends throughout his years in the NFL.
Meathead?
blueblood'11 : 7/17/2014 5:10 pm : link
I have seen nothing in his past as far as reporting and the way he conducts himself in interviews and his job as an NFL insider that would suggest he is a meathead. I think he is credible and there is nothing phoney about him.
I think Glazer is a fine choice
Some Fan : 7/17/2014 5:50 pm : link

Exactly who I thought
Tim in Eternal Blue : 7/17/2014 5:59 pm : link

With the Giants, probably.... but how would Strahan know about other teams?
Got to admit

I had no idea who Jay Glazer was until I googled him.
Jay Glazer use to do that NFL show from Gallaghers in NY. (Years Ago)
Canton : 7/17/2014 7:36 pm : link
I forgot the name of it. But he had Strahan on all the time.

Glazer Bio:

Quote:
Glazer began his writing career as a reporter at the New York Post in New York City. He worked his way up within the Post organization by developing access to players and agents. He also wrote articles for the Giants Newsweeklyproduced by longtime New York Giants correspondent Dave Klein. Among his first sources were NFL agent Jimmy Sexton's New York representative, Peter Flach. Through Flach he became friendly with New York Giants cornerback Jason Sehorn and New York Jets cornerback Aaron Glenn. Through Sehorn he became close with current Hall of Fame Fox analyst and former Giant,  Michael Strahan.
Strahan said this all along. If he got in the Hall
RDJR : 7/17/2014 7:42 pm : link
Glazer was inducting him. Not a surprise and those that wax poetic about TC doing it have not been paying attention. Glazer will do a nice job.

No. Everyone's heard 'Blurred lines'. Only a super small subset of humanity knows who Stray's bestie is.

And being upset by who MS chose to him induct him is silly, regardless. It's his party. His day to remember. He gave us a few already.

I can imagine the future outcry on other football boards, tho. More pro-New York media bias. Glazer even inducted Strahan into the Hall! When everyone here knows that all of everything ever is actually biased against the Giants. But as long as everyone's having fun…
On second thought
bceagle05 : 7/17/2014 8:18 pm : link
my comments about Glazer were over the top - he seems like a good dude and is obviously a close friend. Don't really care all that much, but I just find it odd for THIS occasion not to have a family member or Coughlin, etc. But Stray has certainly earned the right to of what he wants.
Good on ya.
vibe4giants : 7/17/2014 8:22 pm : link
Most everyone sticks to their first thoughts here, come hell or more hell.
Yes, good on ya for easing up on Glazer, BC
MetsAreBack : 7/17/2014 9:36 pm : link

but I still don't understand the vitriol for Strahan you exhibited in your posts. You were really put off by his post-game and stomp-out speech? Why?
I like Glazer, and think he's a cool dude
Optimus-NY : 7/17/2014 9:49 pm : link
Jersey guy. George Young liked him too. Good for Stray. Whatever makes him happy. I think Jay will give a good speech too. People need to relax.

I'm not a huge Strahan fan, but there's no vitriol. I just can't imagine Derek Jeter or Peyton Manning acting that way in those situations. The "stomp you out" stuff is no big deal, but the Super Bowl post game rant, I thought, was beneath him. He had a history of saying and doing dumb shit, and a lot of that has been forgotten in recent years - the ridiculous Fassel comments after his mom died, berating a reporter with a mouthful of peanut butter, etc. He seems to have matured quite a bit, to his credit. Anyway, not trying to shit on his big accomplishment, it's well deserved and a year too late.
Some of you guys are clueless and ridiculous
NYGmen58 : 7/18/2014 4:50 pm : link
A very good choice, and not surprising. His best friend for many years, I can't think of a more appropriate person.

Who are any of you to have any say or opinion on who a hall of famer should choose to have introduce them?

You're entitled to your opinions, but anyone who is "not a huge Strahan fan" has something seriously wrong with them.

Even my friend who is a devout Eagles fan admires him as a player and appreciates him as a personality.

If you're a Giants fan and don't love Strahan as a player, person, and public figure, it says a lot about you.
