NFT: MH17 conspiracy theories..Putin assassination attempt???

asbasb : 7/18/2014 1:22 pm

Russia Today sparked a fever of speculation last night after publishing a report that claimed the doomed flight was flying almost the exact same path as Putin's presidential plane did less than 40 minutes later.
It quoted a source as telling Interfax news agency: 'I can say that Putin’s plane and the Malaysian Boeing intersected at the same point and the same echelon.

'That was close to Warsaw on 330-m echelon at the height of 10,100 meters. The presidential jet was there at 16:21 Moscow time and the Malaysian aircraft—15:44 Moscow time.'

it would be very interesting, just amazing how quickly details and voice recordings hit the internet yesterday.
I have a hard time believing Putin's plane

would fly over a "restricted" Ukraine airzone.
I have a harder time believing...

Putin's plane wouldn't be equipped with countermeasures.
even if confirmed
GIANTSr01 : 7/18/2014 1:28 pm : link
seems a little odd the Putin's plane would follow that route after the MH17 plane was shot down. Could you imagine Air Force One flying over an area where a plane was just shot down 45 min earlier? (let alone the 3rd plane in the last week)
Russia Today is hardly a reputable news organization.
Section331 : 7/18/2014 1:29 pm : link
It is a Putin puppet. The Ukraine army did not have missiles in that area, but the separatists did. Why would they want Putin dead?
I call bullshit...
Dunedin81 : 7/18/2014 1:30 pm : link
this sounds more like an attempt to deflect blame with a semi-plausible alternative scenario. It's not a coincidence that Russian separatists were the first ones on scene, it's because the territory seems less "disputed" than under their effective control.
Russia is trying to use this as excuse for all out war against
Bold Ruler : Mod : 7/18/2014 1:30 pm : link
Ukraine. It's rather amazing. Russia arms separatists who kill 300 civilians. Russia then blames Ukraine for trying to assassinate Putin as an excuse to go to war with Ukraine.
I really fear for our world...

Nope...you'll be surprised how many other "reputable" news source report bunk based on flimsy sources just because they want to be the first to report on new developments.

Let's just say that I spent all day yesterday following this very closely as a job...and it was rather interesting seeing what was being reported before anything could be confirmed beyond merely speculation.

Let me guess: she is an attractive young woman and she will be on talk shows all next week telling us about her crisis of conscience? as if she took a job at Russia Today thinking it was a reputable news source

went to work for RT in good faith thinking it was a reputable organization. That's why RT went for young people - mostly fresh out of school. They had great operations, infrastructure, technology, etc. and paid well. That's all you can see up front. It takes a while to figure out what upper management is really like. That's true for many organizations.

But go ahead continue to hold this against people for most of whom this was a first job.

If young people took the job thinking it was legit, they must have grown up in a bubble. Fairly common knowledge
that Russia Today is a propaganda organ for Putin. It would be kinda like taking a job as a dancer at Hustler Nightclub and being shocked that they wanted you to take off your clothes

Much of this still is the result of WWII.

I don't think I agree with this. Someone born in 1991 is now 23 years old. Many of these young people fresh out of college never lived during the Soviet years or Cold War years and grew up in a time period where Yeltzin was drunk on the White House lawn laughing it up with Clinton, followed by Bush saying how Putin is a good guy because he looked into his eyes and saw his soul, followed by Obama sending around a literal reset button.

I really don't agree with the whole living in a bubble situation. The turn on Putin in the Western media didn't really start until the Georgia conflict in 2008. They grew up in a time period where a positive relationship in the post Soviet era was pushed not only by American politicians but also American media.
Someone would need to explain why

Great post.

Also throw in the thoughts that they likely see it as a mechanism with which they can help shape a better world, and you see parallels to this with other youth movements throughout history.

And in a plane that did not have countermeasures, present on Air Force 1 and many El Al planes, that would have prevented interception.

Supposedly they were all involved with HIV/AIDS research? However, my theory is like many of yours.... Whoever did it, and I think it was the rebels with Russian help, saw an aircraft and said, hey, they have to be military or spies, right? And then that was it.

All those involved, seriously need to hang. This is pure murder, plain and simple.

Not sure if it was 100, but many scientists were traveling to Perth for an AIDS/HIV conference, including a world class researcher.

They did not purposefully target a commercial passenger plane. They were looking to score a hit and a poorly trained team, probably someone that scored a hit earlier, removed all countermeasures and just fired away. It was probably just some guy in a smokey cubicle of a hot truck having a cig and drinking a Russian version of Coke acting in an overzealous manner.
Shooting down passenger jets is bad for business and even worse for PR and Putin would have nothing to do with it for that reason alone.

That said, it was Russian supplied equipment, probably Russian trained unit, probably using Russian commsats and being coordinated by someone close to the border. They have some blood on their hands, that's for sure but to assume this was a purposeful act in retaliation for Putin's presidential plane getting painted is jumping the gun IMO.

The Russian mindset predates World War II. Considerably.

Exactly. The rebels had an irrational exuberance from a few previous shoot downs and determined the skies over 'their territory', no matter what altitude, belonged to them. If you fly over 'our territory', we will assume you're the enemy and take you down.
Unfortunately, you really have to notify the rest of the world of your policies.
These rebels and their Russian handlers are Barbarians, plain and simple. Logic escapes them.

This.

If you have been following the situation in that region, you probably saw reports of Russian-backed separatists targetting Ukranian military aircrafts. As much as the media likes to sensationalize news, many times ill-trained fighters will make huge mistakes. This may have been one of those.

And while this article lacks details, it does point out that the Russian-backed separatists have been going after Ukrainian aircrafts...even shooting down a few just a few days prior to the Malaysian airline incident.

That was the plane they shot down Monday. A propeller transport with a ceiling of 21k.

How these knuckleheads could possibly program the guidance system and radar for a jet flying straight at 500 mph at a fl of 32k is the part of this fiasco that makes no sense at all.

I don't think you're going to use an advanced mobile weaponry system like a Buk and think you're shooting at a cargo plane flying well below commercial airliners.

Too many holes to believe this was a mistake by idiots.
the Russians started this,

The Ruskies in Ukraine said that the Ukes targeted Vlad's plane earlier in the day which is possible but not reason to justify what went down. They are grasping at straws and hoping to run out the clock on this one. If the US doesn't lead on this, we will never really be able to reveal what happened so expect this to go by the wayside before the midterms.

intercept of the conversion between the missile launcher and the Russian handler/advisor, it is pretty clear who shot the plane down. They played that all day yesterday on CNN. Seems like the believed it to be a Ukrainian supply plane.

Like Ronnie said, a poorly trained missile crew operating a sophisticated piece of equipment that made a huge mistake.
