How many have literally screwed up their swing trying to take advantage?
I think it is a disadvantage so far.
Tanaka with elbow soreness still and we'll have to cross our fingers for a few weeks.
Kick the tires on someone with pop who hits .150?
I have no clue how we are .500. Then again, with a -37 run differential, it's mostly due to a lot of luck. Our "expected w-l record" (using the runs allowed/scored formula) is 43-51.
Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. Unsurprisingly, our two big FA acquisitions have been terrible for their contracts in their first season, which I attribute to the pressure of living up to the new contracts and the adjustment. On top of that, the rest of our offense can't hit a lick, and 80% of our starting rotation is injured, including our big import who was one of the top pitchers in baseball in the first half of the season.
I don't expect the Yankees to be within 5 games of the WC by the end of the season, but I will be amazed if they can show some sort of life during the second half.

I can smell a 20 game win streak!
Jeter - old and rather horrible
Roberts - old
Teix - old and recovering from injury
We need strike-out pitchers and we are stuck with exactly the opposite.
Jeter can just trot.
