Offense: Offensive line. It could destroy our season again. Relying on Walton to be healthy and effective. Right guard who knows what you'll get out of a few guys. Beatty who knows and the backup stinks. I think Schwartz and Pugh will be fine but the rest is one big question mark for me.
Defense: Safety. Stevie Brown coming off of an ACL and we really dont know what type of player he will be. He was opportunistic prior to ACL injury but will he be that same type of player now? Depth a big concern, Demps isnt any good and who knows what you're going to get from Cooper Taylor and the rookie. Hopefully Brown stays healthy and we dont have to see Demps ever get on the field.
Add in Rolle receiving the BBI award next week. Ugh.
Hopefully the great depth we seem to have at CB can hide some of the weakness at safety.
on defense it's the pass rush. Hopefully Kiwi and Damontre Moore can step it up and better play at CB has the CB holding the ball longer.
offense: LT.
On defense: DE. Can JPP regain his former form, and can we get some production out of the other DE spot.
after the Snee retirement that started NFL games last year plus Richberg. Oldest OL is now Dallas Reynolds (30). It's reasonable to expect improvement from within and at least a league average OL this season.
If we get that I want to see a Manning resurgence. Eli at his best gives us a chance to win (everything).
DL and S are the biggest questionmarks on D. Also what can we do creatively to take full advantage of our crop of talented CBs.
I'm interested in seeing if Schwartz moves over to RG now and solidifies one side of the OL with Pugh. I'm confident we'll see a massive upgrade at OC with either Walton or Richburg. But we need to hope Beatty bounces back to be at least an average LT and we need someone to step up at the other OG spot.
DL: can we get the 2011, DPOY version of JPP? Is Hankins ready for starters snaps? I like the DT depth, but even if we get 2011 JPP where is the rest of the pass rush coming from?
The depth along both lines is a bit concerning. More the OL. Aside from Beason, who will be coming off another injury, I'm not particularly enthused about the linebackers either. We're really going to have to hope JW takes the next step and puts it all together.
OL's been discussed endlessly. You all know the score.
Where is a pass rush coming from? Will JPP ever dominate again? Is Moore any good? Robert Ayers is no pass rusher.
RE: OL - all about the LT, feel fairly comfortable with the rest of the line.
DE - Moore and Ayers could turn this defense from pretty good to great, and if they can generate a pass rush - the upgraded secondary should reap big benefits. Kiwi was pissed about his pay cut - okay now prove them wrong.
Until proven otherwise , I'm worried about quantity over quality. Schwartz I like, Richburg could be something, but it's really concerning ... Again
most say Brown stinks. Here's a 2nd rounder out of USC who did start 13 games for a good Saints team last year. He had a couple of bad games, but I find it hard to beleive we could find a much better back up. For all the hand wringimg about Reese neglecting the OL, he has 2 second round picks at LT, a proven vetran at LG, a former 3rd rounder at C, with a high 2nd rounder as backup, Mosely (4th rounder) Jerry (started multiple games) in the mix for RG, and a 1st rounder in Pugh at RT. I'd say 90% of BBI slammed JR for that pick a year ago. The OL was hit hard by injuries early last year. if this group can stay relatively healthy, it should be adequate.
Offense: O-line (of course)
Defense: Need a pass rush from several guys
And it's more than just five guys playing well as individuals. They need to have chemistry. You don't develop chemistry like that in a few weeks or even a couple months. It takes a while.
I would expect to see some mistakes in the first four or five games while the o-linemen learn to play with each other. Hopefully, it doesn't cost us wins.
Eli needs a banner year... and he has a lot of tough tests coming up over the season.
The first half of season has:
Lions on the road which will be no cakewalk
Cardinals is an under the radar playoff team
The Falcons could resurge and we still have the nasty 34-0 drubbing in the back of our mind;
and three division games
The back half:
Colts I cant think of when we have beaten the colts last...
At Seahawks... ok this is an L
Niners is a toss up
then we have a few games that we can get some good Wins in Jags, Titans, rams
Eli needs to persevere and pull out some wins in those first 7 games... (like 6-1) to handle the see saw of the back half through at him after the bye... COlts sewahawks niners is brutal especially have the seahawks away after playing againts the colts on monday night.
We need that man to rise and help us win.
We held them to 300 yards total and knocked Wilson around a bit.
If we could have done anything on offense last year - we might have had a chance at making game competitive.
