if a voter holds longevity as a strict criteria. They tend to want a player to be "dominant" or demonstrate excellence and longevity. Two rings is a huge plus.
but I'm glad that he's getting out while he's still able to be in relatively healthy shape. He's been a great Giant. I'm not sure we have what it takes to replace him this year.
HOF is a good question. Is there a real criteria for judging OL? His career may have been cut short by injury, but it still spanned 9 seasons. For at least 6 of those he was widely regarded throughout the league and media as one of the top OG in the game. For a few years, he may have actually been the best RG in the game. I think he may receive more serious consideration than initially indicated here.
Borderline. Clearly not 1st ballot. However, he did have about 5-6 HOF caliber seasons and 2 rings. Question is whether his last few injury plagued years diminish his career.
They'll save $1M on the cap, because the save the $2M salary he was due, but he receives the maximum $1M injury benefit because he failed his pre-camp physical. So the net savings on the cap is roughly $1M.
Snee was an all-time great Giant...but when Stanfel, Kramer, Gray, Sweeney, Gillingham, and Kuchenberg are on the outside...not to mention those from the 70's onward...it is a tough crowd...

he was so high in the spring that both hips were healthy. Really thought he'd make it back for another year. Had no idea the elbow would be this bad. Hell of a Giant.
Never understood Kramer and Kuchenberg unless Forrest Gregg was it for the Packers line and Larry Little was it for the Dolphins...it seems to be a form of rationing slots....Mean Joe Greene but not LC. Greenwod,, Gene Hickerson but not Dick Schafrath, we'll give you Bob Lilly and Mel Renfro but no Lee Roy Jordan, Chuck Howley or Cornell Green...Dave Robinson as physically a dominant player as the 60's could bring had to wait until this year because Ray Nitschke, Henry Jordan, and Willie Wood were in...
Sometimes it's just fate...if the Colts don't tie the game in 58 or the Giants win in overtime, Conerly is the MVP and is in the HOF...one game in a 14 year career...the Colts beat the Jets and Mike Curtis and Bobby Boyd...maybe Tom Matte and Jimmy Orr are in...
Finally the Cards with Ernie McMillian, Bob. Reynolds, Irv Goode, Ken Gray, and Bob DeMarco had an outstanding OL, without the playoff wins however, the all pro teams and pro bowl appearances count for little.

Injuries took away his HOF shot.
Dead money still sits on the cap for this season. They might save a million or two depending on how his contract was last structured.
Seems about right

I hear Logan Mankins mentioned as a shoe-in HOFer and he's got 5 Pro-Bowls, 1 all-pro.
Snee is a 4 time pro-bowler, and 1 time all-pro.
Mankings was a part of some alltime great offenses, but so what, Snee has two rings, Mankins has 0.
I don't think Snee is a HOFer, but neither is Mankins.
