Maybe someone can help me. I bought the 60' plasma from Dell and its 1080p 600Hz. When I hit info on my remote the TV says its 1080i and 60Hz. Why is that?
Not really. For a tv that size, you'd hardly notice any difference between 1080p and 720p. The shift from 720p to 1080p was more about selling more TVs than any kind of drastic improvement in resolution.

DirecTV receivers can display up to 1080p but very little content is available at that resolution.
most networks are still broadcasting 720p, I believe the DTV receiver selects the highest resolution possible for the content being displayed.
Blu-ray is one of the only things I know that is 1080p
maybe HD movies, not sure.
There are some people on here who are really experts in this stuff that can probably correct my terminology, but that's how I understand it.
The screen is shattered. I'll post a review In 8 days when the replacement arrives. What a pain in the arse
