Ordered one last week and have a question.

Maybe someone can help me. I bought the 60' plasma from Dell and its 1080p 600Hz. When I hit info on my remote the TV says its 1080i and 60Hz. Why is that?
720P is surprisingly...

1080i
HumbleGiant : 7/21/2014 7:13 pm : link
Probably because the source is connecting to is only putting out 1080i. WHat is it connected to?
Its a Directv receiver.

the content.

DirecTV receivers can display up to 1080p but very little content is available at that resolution.

most networks are still broadcasting 720p, I believe the DTV receiver selects the highest resolution possible for the content being displayed.

Blu-ray is one of the only things I know that is 1080p

maybe HD movies, not sure.

There are some people on here who are really experts in this stuff that can probably correct my terminology, but that's how I understand it.
There's certain movies on

pay per view being broadcasted in 1080p now but thats about it for TV options. Netflix has a few shows in 4K.
Yep. Mine is the 50" plasma with 1080p.

It was the top reviewed model. 500 bucks. Arrived today.

The screen is shattered. I'll post a review In 8 days when the replacement arrives. What a pain in the arse

Not really. For a tv that size, you'd hardly notice any difference between 1080p and 720p. The shift from 720p to 1080p was more about selling more TVs than any kind of drastic improvement in resolution.
I can't wait for Stan to show up

and tell us how this Dell deal is proof positive of how Plasma picture quality sucks.
As for the TV/Deal itself

I'm super tempted to get this thing. Would be a good replacement for the shitty Best Buy LED TV that I have behind the basement bar.
